The Padres are looking to trade 29 yr old 3B Manny Machado, and 32 yr old C Austin Nola to the Yankees for 30 yr old RF Aaron Judge. The Padres have a dire need for an upgrade to their outfield offense and have the money available to make an attempt to sign Judge Long term which the Yankees have yet to do. The Yankees receive a popular star in Machado who's on a long term contract and can play SS for a year until the Yankees young SS's develop and then move to 3B to replace an aging Donaldson or moving him to DH and playing 3B this season. Nola fills a major void behind the plate for the Yankees. Machado is very unhappy in San Diego and with Tatis in rehab soon to return Kim and Croneworth can man 3B with top prospect Abrams able to play more regularly at 2B. If the Padres are unable to extend Judge this deal opens up significant future money to sign other outfield pieces.
