The New York Yankees and the Cincinnati Reds have agreed to swap young catchers with each other. The Yankees send over C Wilin Rosario, a guy more likely to DH than be a full time catcher due to his below average grade behind the plate. The Yankees are a team stacked with talented hitters and Rosario would just play second fiddle to them and not get the chance he wants to shine.

The Reds send over Yasmani Grandal who has struggled in recent seasons posing a batting average of .203, .231, and .202 in his last 2 full seasons and so far this year respectively. The Yankees still believe that he can become that well rounded catcher of the future they need as the past few seasons they've been focusing on stop-gap catchers including this year with Carlos Santana. Grandal has the bat and glove to have Santana transition to a backup role and have the Yankees possibly focus on him also becoming a backup first baseman.

The Yankees also don't mind taking on Grandal's salary because they're the Yankees. They only know how to spend money.

The New York Yankees trade:
C Wilin Rosario

The Cincinnati Reds trade:
C Yasmani Grandal

Classic change of scenery trade. 26 y/o hitting C for 26 y/o balanced C. I have no issue with it. I approve!
