The Rockies are looking to use their significant available money to make a run at winning this season by adding a veteran SP Jason Hammel and RP Greg Holland to their pitching staff. The Mets are looking to move some of their older players and move salary that was inherited by 2nd year GM Scott Frank to allow him to build the team through youth. They also are tired of Greg Holland's attitude in the locker room and hope he'll be happier on a contender. Knebel and Cotton have the potential to anchor the Mets bullpen when they are ready to contend for titles. Olson is hitting well in the minors and could be a platoon bat or 4th OF and Ahmed can develop into a speed defense option at both 2B and SS off the bench or as an injury fill in.Trade finanicals.jpgAhmed.jpgCotton.jpgHammel.jpgHolland.jpgOlson.jpgKnebel.jpg

Now THIS is a classic rebuild trade! Mets shed unhappy vets, get SIGNIFICANT salary relief, a couple higher end prospects, and some interesting mid-level ones that could contribute as cheap role players eventually. The Rox continue to turn their money/prospect reserves for veteran arms with significant upside. I approve!
