The Deal: The Braves acquiesce to RP Matt Bright's (29 y/o 55/55) trade request in exchange for prospect RP David Reyes (24 y/o 35/55) and MLB SP Brandon Johnson (28 y/o 45/45).
The Narrative: Bright has struggled so far this season, but Toronto is willing to gamble that the change of scenery will make him the lefty arm they've been missing in the bullpen. Johnson has always been great in AAA, but now he's putting it together at the ML level and should round out the rotation in Atlanta. Similarly, Reyes has made "The Leap" in A-ball this year and looks primed to reach his potential (which matches Bright's overall/potential) sooner rather than later. Lastly, despite retaining some of Bright's salary in the deal, ATL frees up budget room this season and next as they look to lock up their emerging young core and hit the jackpot in FA to cap off their rebuild!
