The New York Yankees have agreed to trade SP Zach McAllister to the Rangers for 1B Sean Casey. The Yankees are looking to move McAllister as he is a pitcher that, at 26, they don't see in the long term plans for the team due to the prospects they have as well as picking up some younger guys off the waiver wire. The Rangers are looking to pick up McAllister due to their current need for starting pitching on the MLB level. They can get rid of Casey due to the great seasons current first basemen Albert Pujols and Jose Abreu are having and this acquisition frees up some money for the Rangers if they need to go out and sign some free agents. The Yankees look to acquire Casey to help fill the left handed slugger spot currently held by Ryan Howard, who is having an awful season. Casey is also in the last year of his deal so if he underperforms, the Yankees can simply let him walk.
