The Detroit Tigers are sending 1B Prince Fielder to the Mets in exchange for prospects Johan Camargo and Luis Hidalgo.
The Tigers have Paul Goldschmidt as their 1B of the now and future and Fielder is expendable. While he's having a monster year at DH, Fielder is an expiring contract and Detroit is not looking to resign him. The Mets are looking for some more pop out of their bats, which Fielder will easily provide them. Camargo will be a backup infielder next season in the majors (as he is out of option years) and Hidalgo looks like a possible middle of the rotation SP if he continues to develop.
