That's pretty cool that they have bad contract trade logic

They do supposedly have trade logic and label each team is labeled stuff like contending or rebuilding. Just like all video games it doesn't work as good as it does in real life so I work around that. What I do is I control all 30 teams and then just make all the trades myself. I always look and make sure its a fair trade for both sides and with doing this makes me have a interest in some of the CPU teams I normally wouldn't care about. I also have it set it where I resign players and set the minutes for all the teams. The cool thing is I can specifically set how much I want to do for the other 29 teams. I had several more trades I was going to make and then screwed up and simmed past the deadline. There is a way to turn the deadline off, but even when doing so it didn't work so I'll have to wait till the offseason now.

The Bulls team for example they aren't going to make the playoffs for a few years. Now they have some extra draft picks and can potential be a powerhouse down the line instead of just being another bad team. I am already thinking of some more moves I can make with them where they take on more bad contracts and get assets in return.

March 1st Update

This was the most important stretch of the year for the young 76ers who have 4 games before they face the mighty Cleveland Cavaliers. It starts with the Bulls which should be a win and then the Magic and Heat both of which are slightly ahead of them in the playoff standings. The Wizards the current #3 seed will be a tough game. All of this would of course be done without Joel Embiid and Robert Covington as well as J.J Redick playing through a sprain ankle (-1 ovr).

Bulls 108 - 76ers 117
The 76ers took care of business in a game that was never in doubt with Dario Saric stepping up. Saric lead the way with 20 points and 7 rebounds. Ben Simmons had a great game with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assist. Jahli Okafor played well with 18 points and 5 rebounds. Fultz is still struggling to score, but had a good all around game with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assist.

Magic 79 - 76ers 107
This was a blowout from the start and once again a balanced effort with JJ Redick going 3 of 8 from 3 for 19 points. Okafor not only had 16 points, but added 12 rebounds and 2 blocks. Richaun Holmes out played Saric with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Fultz chipped in with 18 points, 5 assist, 5 rebounds

Wizards 123 - 76ers 117 (OT)
Every year you have a game or two that keeps you up at night with the way it ended and this one is going to sting for a very long time. The 76ers had a 16 points lead with 4 minutes to go and a 8 point lead with 1:12 seconds to go. Otto Porter hit 2 3's in the final seconds including one at the buzzer to send it to overtime. Despite instructions to foul to avoid a 3 going off Porter still got a clean looked and nailed it. John Wall took over in OT and the Wizards escaped with a 6 point lead as Wall finished with 35 points and 11 assist.

Ben Simmons did his part with 29 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assist and 3 steals. Okafor continues to play well with 27 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. Fultz was about his usual with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assist.

Heat 111 - 76ers 110
Things went from bad to worse with another lose at the buzzer this time by the hands of Goran Dragic who had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assist and 4 steals. Dragic hit a jump shot at the buzzer to win the game. Ben Simmons fouled out with 4 minutes to go and that was a killer with Embiid and Covington out. Ben ended up with 15 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assist and 2 blocks. Jarryd Bayless came up big off the bench with 19 points including 3 for 4 from 3. Richaun Holmes also continues to play well with 17 points and 7 rebounds

NBA Draft Preview

It's time to start facing the facts that the 76ers might not make the playoffs and will once again be picking in the lottery. If the Lakers pick ends up being 2 through 5 then that pick will belong to the Celtics. The Lakers currently have the 3rd worst record in the NBA with 18 wins with 4 more teams having 19 or 20 wins. So depending on the ping pong balls shake out the 76ers could end up with 2 lottery picks. If the Celtics do end up with the Lakers pick then the 76ers get next years King's pick which is also expected to be in the lottery.

So with all that said we want to go over the top 10 prospects in this years draft. We will come back at a later time and go more in depth as you will see its a big men draft. That is not what the 76ers need so its going to be interesting to see how all of this shakes out. Let us know which prospects you would like to see the 76ers take or would you try and make a trade.

March 15th Update

Things haven't gotten any better for the 76ers as it would be 4 more Losses (6 total) before finally getting a win. That win would come against the Heat so the 76ers got some redemption in a 5 point game. Then a loss to the lowly Nets before picking up another win vs the Pacers making it 2 out of 3. Some more good news is 3 of the next 4 games are against non playoff teams and Robert Covington is back healthy.

At the beginning of the season I posted 4 major storylines to follow and now that the regular season is 1 month away lets take a look at those and see how things are looking.

1. Is this the year we see results and the 76ers make the playoffs ?
With 16 games to go we are currently 8.5 games out of the 8th seed so unless the team goes on a crazy long winning streak the playoffs will have to wait a year.

2. Can Embiid stay healthy and justify the new contract after dominating in just 31 games last year?
Things got off to such a good start for Embiid, but unfortunately after playing 50 games he broke his vertebrae and missed the rest of the season. You can tell from the standings the team just isn't the same without him.

3. Can Fultz score 20 a game as rookie ? Was it the right move to trade up to #1 and pass on Ball ?
Fultz hasn't been great, but he has been solid and at only 19 years old the sky is still the limit for him. He is currently at 12.4 points a game so he isn't going to come close to 20. A bright spot for him as been his rebounds and assist both of which are over 4 per game. He is shooting only .329 from 3 and .413 from the field. Lonzo Ball is having a good all around year and overall has similar numbers to Fultz so its still to early to tell if the trade up was worth it.

4. How will former #1 overall pick Ben Simmons play in his rookie year ?
Now finally on to some good news Ben has passed expectations this year being named a all star and likely the rookie of the year. He is averaging 17.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.0 assist, 1.5 steals, 0.6 blocks on .531 % shooting. He is only 21 years old so its going to be a fun watching him lead the team for the next 10-15 years.

March 29th Update
Since our last update the 76ers have been playing some really good basketball winning 5 of 7 games. The playoffs are still not likely with 6 games back and only 8 games to go. If your wondering if Robert Covington is going to get paid this offseason well the 76ers have won 6 of 8 since he returned.

Its not all positive news as we entered the 4th quarter up 9 points and ended up losing by 10 points thanks to insane shooting, Simmons fouling out and Jokic going for 30, 11 and 7.

The most exciting win of the year may have been vs the Magic when Peyton missed a free throw and then Covington hit a 3 at the buzzer to send to OT. Simmons would take over in OT for a 4 point victory.

2017 / 18 Playoff Results

The Warriors once again won the NBA finals for the 3rd time in 4 years with a blowout win in game 7.

The Pistons after being the #1 seed all year got a tough draw in round 1 as the Wizards went cold the final 2 weeks to drop to the 7th seed. The Wizards also had some big injuries during the regular season.

The Magic surprised everyone and beat the Raptors in game 5 and made it all the way to the ECF.

The Cavs also got upset by the Wizards in round 2 and it was never much of a series.

The thunder despite having all the star power couldn't make it out of the 1st round.

2018 Offseason Part 1

The offseason saw some greats retire while Dirk, Vince Carter and Manu was expected. Joe Johnson and Dewayne Wade was a bit of a surprise with David West and Udonis Haslem also retiring .

The 76ers are beyond excited for the staff bringing in a top notch Head Scout and Trainer. The person that will get the headlines is Paul Pierce signing on to be the assistant coach.

What everyone wants to talk about is the draft lottery with 3 teams possible of having two lottery picks in 76ers, Bulls and Suns. Will the Lakers pick fall outside the top 5 and the 76ers get to keep it ? Boston didn't make it out of the 1st round and now might not get a lottery pick when this time last year everyone thought they would have two. The Pacers and Jazz are expected to be 13th and 14th and face similar problems. They are not good enough to win the title, but also not bad enough to get a top 3 pick. Will one of them get lucky and jump up ?

2018 Lottery Results

Biggest Winners

Suns If jumping all the way up from 3 to 1 isn't good enough they also secure the Heat pick at #11.

Knicks The jump from 6 to 3 is huge and this will allow for a young player to be brought in to develop alongside KP. Would the Knicks think about trading this pick for a proven player ?

76ers Everything went as expected and this young 76ers team has picks 8 and 12 setting up kinds of options as they also have 3 early 2nd round picks.

Biggest Losers

Hawks The Hawks tanked on purpose and ended up dropping from 4 to 1. Overall the team is still in good shape and has 4 draft picks in the 1st round.

Celtics The lakers late season win streak made the chance of the pick going to the Celtics very unlikely. Something tells me Danny Ainge has something up his sleeve.

Cavs When they traded for the Nets pick many thought it was a lock for a top 3. It ended up dropping 1 spot to the 5th pick.

Trade Alert

Cavs - After failing to make the finals for the first time since Lebron came back its no surprise to see once again a top draft pick traded for a veteran player. The big news here is that Lebron has told the front office if they made this move he would come back for one more year. A 19 year old wasn't going to help the Cavs win one more championship and Gasol was 2nd team All NBA this year. He should have a good 3+ years in him playing at a high level. If they are able to sign Isaiah Thomas that makes for a great big 3.

Grizzles - After not making the playoffs this year the grit and grind era has officially came to a end. With Gasol getting older and stuck in the loaded western conference it was time to trade him and doing so got the 5th pick in the draft. His contract isn't great, but Triston Thompson can come in and provide solid center play. This now gives the Grizzles pick 5 and 10 to add some wing pieces to go along with Mike Conley assuming he isn't traded also.

76ers Offseason Preview

After the lottery the 76ers have picks 8 and 12 in the first round on top of the you have three early 2nd round picks in 34, 36 and 42. Before we dive into all the options as far as trading up goes lets take a look at the roster and see just how many spots are locked up. We will also look at how many spots in the rotation are even open for rookies.

Point Guards
Fultz
McConell

Wings
Covington (a free agent, but the team has said he will get a new deal)
Luwawu Cabarrot
Justin Anderson

Utility Player
Ben Simmons

Post
Embiid
Holmes
Saric
Okafor (option will be picked up)

Under Contract potentially Traded
Bayless
Korkmaz

Free Agents the team wants back
J.J Reddick
Walter Tavares

FA not expected Back
James Mcadoo
Amir Johnson
Stauskas

So before we even get to the draft next year you see there is just no room for another big man on the roster. It's worth noting the team is high on the 7'3 Tavares upside as a rebounder and shot blocker. If a injury down low was to happen then Simmons can play PF and Saric or Holmes could play Center.

The front office has said they want to give Covington 30 + minutes a game and find a way to move him into the starting lineup. They are two younger guys in TLC and Justin Anderson depending on how they progress that could make even more noise for playing time. Anderson was solid last year when Covington got hurt and should only get better.

Fultz was 1st team all rookie this past year and keep in mind he was only 19 so the sky is still the limit for him. If Simmons starts at PG then Fultz will move over to the 2 guard. TJ isn't much of a scorer, but can hold his own as a backup PG. It's unclear if J.J Redick will be back, but its hard to imagine the team would not want his veteran leadership and shooting ability coming off the bench. A 2 year deal at around 6 million per year should be able to bring him back.

So we have 10 guys not even counting Bayless or Korkmaz that will be back and at least 9 of those 10 are deserving of being in the rotation. The team will have some cap space also so you will want to save 2 spots for FA to be signed even if its smaller type moves for depth.

So that gets us back to all these draft picks the 76ers have and how in the world do you use all of them. I think it is safe to say that some more depth could be added at SG / PG. If you look at the mock drafts the top 2 SG's Doncic and Mushidi will be gone before pick 8. They are a handful of others expected to go in that range like SG Rawle Akins, PG Duval and PG Sexton. If you take two Guards then its hard to imagine that J.J would want to come back and sit on the bench. It would also make Bayless who was a good deep threat and versatile combo guard last year with no chance to ever see the court.

So do you just sit back at 8 take the best guard on the board and BPA at 12 ? Do you package the early 2nd rounders with 12 and go up and draft someone else. They are a alot of rebuilding teams in front of you that could use the extra young players like the Grizzles who now own picks 5 and 10 after the Gasol trade. This draft is also weak on overseas players with only 1 that shows potential.

If we have learned one thing from this article it is that trades have to happen on draft day as the 76ers do not have room for 5 rookies on its roster

76ers 2018 Draft Recap

Once again the Celtics and 76ers have made a big trade involving a top draft pick.

Celtics Get
Draft Rights to Mohamed Bamba (8th overall pick)

76ers Get
2019 Kings Draft Pick (top 1 protected)

* If the Kings pick lands in the top 1 then 76ers would get the Grizzles pick if it lands 6, 7 or 8.

* If the Kings pick lands in the top 1 and Grizzles pick is 9-14 the 76ers get either a lottery protected Clippers pick or a Celtics 1st in 2019 in addition to the Grizzles pick.

* If the Kings and Grizzles picks both land from 5 to 9 whichever is the highest choice the 76ers get.

* If the Kings, Celtics, Clippers and Grizzles picks all are 10 or lower then the 76ers get the 2 highest of those picks

The Celtics went out in the 1st round of the playoffs this year and Bamba (76 ovr with A- potential) fills the need they have of rebounding and interior defense. The kings pick comes with some protections and will still likely still leave them with 3 first round picks next year. Bamba will step in right away and start at PF.

We knew the 76ers had to make a move in the draft and didn't have a room for all the rookies to play meaningful minutes. The front office must have not fell in love with any of the guards as many expected them to trade up and take one. Still with the 12th pick and those 3 early 2nd's the night isn't over for the 76ers yet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Colin Sexton
Everyone knew one Guard was going to be drafted and that player ended up being PG Collin Sexton. While numerous conversations with other teams was had in the end the 76ers sit back and got the 2nd PG off the board. Our inside sources tell us Sexton and Duval had the same grade from the front office even though Duval may be more ready to play now. Sexton is 6'3 so he can play some 2 if need be and we expect him to jump T.J for the backup PG spot. His defense and outside shooting does need some work. He can finish at the rim and is a great athlete.

Grayson Allen
The 76ers ended up trading up a few spots with the Warriors and got a J.J Reddick clone in Grayson Allen. Even after the pick the front office said they still hope to bring J.J back so we will have to see how that unfolds. While being 23 may scare some teams off it is a good thing for the 76ers as It puts him around the same age as the stars on the team. While he may never start it gives a nice role player and shooter off the bench.

Ian Paven
With the last of the initial three 2nd round picks a international prospect was taken Ion Paven. He is a 6'8 246 pound SF who will spend 1 year overseas and some reports are out he may not have the upside they thought he did when he was drafted.

2018 FA Recap
The 76ers have re signed J.J Reddick to a 1 year 9.45 million deal in a bit of a surprise after drafting Greyson Allen who has a similar skill set. This deal didn't get done till the last day of free agent and a big factor in that was that no other teams expected to make the playoffs had the cap space to sign him. This will mean that J.J will tutor Allen for a year before likely moving on in the off season. As we expected Robert Covington signed back for a 3 year deal worth 46.4 Million.

Mike Scott the veteran stretch PF has also been signed to a 1 year minimum deal. The 7'3 Walter Tavares has signed a 2 way deal. Mike will not likely be on the active roster unless a injury happens, but the front office has believed to be high on him. The signing of Scott makes 16 players on the roster so another move will have to be made before the season starts.

With so few teams having cap space it pretty much forced the star players hands to go back to the previous teams. It made for a quite offseason below are some of the big moves.

New Teams
Greg Monroe - 1 year deal to Lakers (10 mill)
Mike James - 1 year deal to Knicks (4 mill)
Bojan Bogdonvich - 2 year deal to Pelicans (11.02)
Nikolo Mirotic - 2 year deal to Nets (8.57)
Brook Lopez - 3 year deal to Suns (50.8)
KCP - 3 year deal to Pacers (69 mill)
Will Barton - 1 year deal to Mavs (8.9 mill)
Paul George - to Lakers (forgot to write down $)
Dante Exum - 1 year deal Pacers (4 million)
Alex Len - 2 year deal to Nets (8 million)

Re-signed
Tyrke Evans - 1 year to Grizzles (20.00 mill )
Seth Curry - 2 year deal to Mavs (7.42 mill)
Nerlens Noel - 2 year deal to Mavs (30.4 mill)
Marcus Smart - 3 year deal to Celtics (25.9 mill)

Another Questionable Move for 76ers

With the resigning of JJ and then bringing in Mike Scott the 76ers had 16 guys on the roster so a trade had to be made. Its a move that seems to have the fan base split and we are anxious to hear your thoughts.

Jazz Thoughts
The Jazz drafted a SF with the 14th pick so Ingles became a player that wasn't really needed for a semi rebuilding team. Bayless upped his stock last year and can provide minutes at backup PG. He is here mostly to save $ from the last 2 years of Ingles contract. Furkan Kormaz wasn't going to see the court anytime soon in Philly and he is a nice prospect who can earn some minutes this year in Utah. With the $ saved on this deal the Jazz are trying to sign Austin Rivers, but so far isn't backing down on his contract demands

76ers Thoughts
Bayless who saw most of his minutes at SG didn't have a spot in the rotation with the addition of Sexton, Allen and J.J Redick. The big news here is taking on the contract of Ingles which is 13 million this year, but does go down a bit the next 2 years. There is no doubt what he brings to the table being a elite 3 & D guy. He is 6'8 so he can easily defend the 2, 3 or 4 and helps out one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA last year. Joe will be 31 when the season starts so that makes him older then the core of the young team. Since Bayless's contract was up this likely means the big picture goal is to go with the young guys and not bring on any big name FA's. Its going to be interesting to see how all of this shakes out and they 76ers are now loaded with depth at every position. He might also be able to help tutor / bond with Ben as both are from Australia.
