THE NEXT LEG IN THE RACE

According to the NFL’s official Twitter account, based off the winning percentages of the 2016 opponents, the Raiders have the fourth toughest schedule out of any team for the 2017 season.

The Raiders will also be playing in Mexico for the second consecutive year against the defending Super Bowl champions. In spite of all of that, fans will expect a postseason birth, as well as have Super Bowl aspirations.

These are lofty expectations to say the least, but if the Raiders want to take that next step, they must embrace all challenges thrown their way.

The Raiders will be opening the season on the road for the second consecutive year, and will be playing a familiar opponent in the Tennessee Titans. This game has the potential to be one of the better contests in all of Week 1, if you consider it features two of the better young quarterbacks in the NFL in Derek Carr and Marcus Mariota.

Derek Carr passed for 28 touchdowns in his second season and is one of the league’s top young quarterbacks. He has big-play ability in WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree.

The Raiders are a trendy pick as a team on the rise, but they face a brutal schedule with many trips east in the first eight weeks and one south of the border. Is the road schedule too much to overcome?

How strong is the Oakland defense? Khalil Mack, Mario Edwards jr and Jihad Ward are a worthy squad, but questions still float around the secondary.

David Amerson has shown flashes of greatness but the real questions are if second year Safety Karl Joseph and rookie CB Gareon Conley will live up to the hype.

Tune in this season to find out!

GO RAIDERS!
