So, woodsmall12 brought this up yesterday as he has family in town and feels bad that he can't go on auto for his opponents. We've ran into a few other instances of guys having things come up and being willing to go on auto but not because if our rule.

The rule is in place because in the short 24 hour advance often games will not get played. Some owners would put themselves in auto while others would not (either willingly or because of circumstances). This would leave pack1797 and myself fielding numerous requests to auto guys in the hours leading up to advance. There were often times when we were unavailable and guys would get upset because they couldn't play their games while others did. It created an undue burden on Matt and I and did leave some guys out to dry while others played.

Now, however, preseasons have taken on a whole new meaning with our real life rookies. Owners want to test out their new rookies as well as feel out position battles. It makes sense and it's something I'd like to give everyone the opportunity to do. However, if we choose to amend our rule, it will come with the honus that Matt and I will NOT be responsible for putting guys on auto. If you cannot play, you would need to put yourself on auto so your opponent can play the CPU. If it's going to be a sim because you cannot put yourself in auto, then that is between you and your opponent. We do not want to be dragged into these issues.

So, with that being understood, do you guys want to lift the ban on autos for the preseason with the above understanding that admin will not auto you or your opponent?

If you are all in favor, we can institute this immediately. We just need everyone to vote quickly and any objections to be raised promptly.

Thanks!

I'm in favor of allowing auto. I know with me working 24 hour shifts, I would hate for my opponent to Sim simply because I wasn't able to play. I also agree that it's up to the two players to work it out and shouldn't be on you.

I've not played a game yet this season 0-2 so far and would really like to use preseason to try out some playbooks so I am in favor of lifting the ban.

I believe if the person knows ahead of time they can't play that week, then they should put themselves on auto! It'll save the opponent from risk of injuries. I think its messed up if your opponent can't play and the game is simmed, and you get hit with injuries!

I also believe it should be the responsibility of the user to put themselves on auto! It's not fair for y'all to get requests late in the day before advance!

Exactly. This is our biggest issue. I don't have an issue with guys going on auto as long as everyone is proactively working to be fair to their opponent and not throwing the responsibility on us.

I voted yes l, with that being said I agree it's a user's responsibility to place themselves on auto. I rather play against cpu and my injuries happen during the game instead of being forced to sim and lose players that way is a big reason for me as well as it gives you the chance to check out your team and gives a general idea to figure out schemes.

Before even reading the explanation I thought of the burden it was cause you guys and thought that if you didn't put yourself on auto it would just be a sim. I agree with that completely.

Right. We just don't want guys to say "oh well" when they can't play and leave their opponents hanging. We just need guys to work with their opponents and put themselves on auto if they can't play.
