Dallas rationale: Dallas picks up a great TE to take over for Witten at some point, and depth at a position that is very important in the Cardinals playbook, as there are multiple TE formations out the rear end. They also pick up a power back to run between the tackles. Speed backs are all over this team and its not my style. Sio hopefully brings some life to this trash defense. He's young and can be groomed in to almost any kind of LB.

I have plenty of depth at OLine, and the Colts are in desperate need of some bodies worth a darn to protect Luck. This fills both teams needs, and leaves Indianapolis still under the Cap Pen limit(by less than a mil)

I understand that I wouldn't be allowed to myself sign him during the season and trade him. This is different. He was picked up in real life 3 months before the draft. It is completely realistic for him to be traded in the real life nfl and such has happened with many players before. so why would it be not allowed now?

I think the reasoning behind picking up free agent and not being able to trade them stops people from picking up high skilled players that you don't need so you can trade them to another team that could have picked them up threw free agency.

I thought that was changed due to the large about of new owners

That was. I thought I updated that

Also, the rule was put in place for the reasons that Knockout511 mentioned. As far as I am aware, the NFL has the same rule for the same reasons. I can't think of one players signed and then traded in year 1. I thought I had posted the decision on all the forums but may have just been in VIP. I apologize but I'm sure you can see there logic in that rule.

Also, please keep questions or concerns to threads like this or PM. The live chat is not the place to air grievances or complain about things. Thanks.

2012 Drew Stanton signed with jets, they traded for tebow, Stanton wanted out they traded him to indy a week later. That's only 1 example but it happens

We'll have to go in and look at it but it surely seems to be very rare. Another part of the issue is that Gore has $8.5M guaranteed but has no penalty. That's a big reason stars don't sign and then get traded. The cap penalties and guaranteed money that they have to pay out makes it a very difficult move to pull off financially.
