Tennessee Titans 2018 Season Preview

The Tennessee Titans come into this season looking to build onto what the old ownership has built. Titans finish the season at 11-5 last season. They were not able to accomplish the main goal in winning the Super Bowl after being outed in the first round of the playoffs. The Titans did not do much in free agency on the offensive side of the ball. The team did bring in veteran QB Alex Smith to serve as back up to Marcus Mariota. Alex will provide exactly what we are looking for in a back up QB. He will be ready if we need him and provide much need guidance for the other young QB's on the roster. A late, some may say surprising signing in HB Charcandrick West will be a nice change of pace to Demarco, Derrick, and D'onta. We also brought in veteran Tight End Zach Miller who will serve as our number two. LG King Dunlap was brought in to be the teams new starting Left Guard. Titans are very happy with their Offensive Free Agent class and look forward to see what these signings can offer the team.

The Titans had 6 picks in this years draft and spent them all on offense.

1st round- TCU WR Kavontae Turpin

Kavontae is expected to make an immediate impact all over for the team. He will jump right into return duties for the team. Titans are expecting turpin to play a lot of slot for the upcoming season. Getting the ball into this electric kids hands will be a priority for new head coach Bruce Arians. Catching or receiving hand offs, this kid will have plenty of opportunities to put his 4.3 speed to use.

2nd round- Texas HB D'onta Foreman

This bruising tailback rushed for over 2000 yards at Texas. He will join an already loaded back field of Demarco Murray, Derrick Henry, and Charcandrick West. There will be a lot of thunder, with a dash of lightning in this exciting back field. D'onta will immediately be receive carries. Titans are very excited to see what D'onta can bring to this loaded back field.

3rd round- Ohio State QB JT Barrett

JT was drafted because the titans feel that he is very similar to Marcus Mariota. They feel that with a couple of season watching from the bench JT will be able to step in for Marcus if needed, keeping the offense running just as if he was running it. The future is very bright for this kid.

5th Round- USF QB Quinton Flowers

The Titans shocked some people going QB with back to back picks. "We really like Quinton, It would of hurt to see him go somewhere else." I guess you can never have to many QB's, Right? The team really feels the way about Quinton as they do JT. "He fits the system....we will take him."

6th Round- Clemson WR Ray-Ray McCloud

Ray Ray is very raw right now, but the team does feel that with his speed and athleticism he will be able to make some of an impact year one. He will probably receive some return duties.

7th Round- Penn State DaeShawn Hamilton

The Titans were pleasantly surprised to see that Hamilton had fallen that far to them. The team think that with DaeSean's size and speed that he can eventually move into a one or two spot on the depth chart. Some may sat that he is more "pro ready" then the Titans 1st round pick. Time will tell.

Defense

Wow, what can we say. This Titans Defense has a chance to be very special. With the Biggest Free Agent signing in team history the Titans make an already good defense great. That signing being All-Pro Linebacker Khalil Mack. The team knew right away when he decided not to re-sign with the Raiders that they would throw everything they had at him. The Titans did that and got him! Mack will play opposite of also HUGE free agent signing linebacker Clay Matthews. In between those two will be two very solid veteran middle linebackers Wesley Woodyard and Ray Maualuga. The Titans also brought in Elvis Dumervil, Mario Williams, and Carl Nassib to provide depth to the pass rush. In a big off season trade the Titans acquired the services of Dominiqu Rodgers-Cromatie from the New York football Giants for a 4th rd pick. The team is very excited to pair him with rookie standout, Adoree Jackson. Titans also signed veteran Corner Buster Skrine to be the nickle corner. Returning to play FS, long time Titan Jason McCourty will be parried with the teams other rookie stand out SS Jamal Adams. Veteran signing SS Mike Mitchell will back up and play in three safety sets. The Titans really think this defense could be mention with the legendary Steelers, Bears, Ravens, and Buccaneer defense's.

Special Teams
Tennessee has both kicker Ryan Succop and Punter Brett Kern returning. The return game will be decided in the preseason. There are a lot of exciting potential choices for the positions, stay tuned!

The Titans could not be happier with the job that the new ownership has done in the little time they have been in charge. The last thing they left us with was "We would like to welcome all of our fans to come with us on what will fore sure be a one special ride." TITAN UP!
