The St. Louis Cardinals start a new year with the same expectations they have every year...win a World Series. Road will be tough though with the Cubs having a influx of young talent to contend with and the Pirates being tough as usual. Outside of their division they will have to deal with the Padres, Dodgers, pitching plentiful Mets, and the stacked Nationals. It Will be a tough road but the Cardinals are ready to fight for a 12th World Series championship.

In week #1 of the Diamond Cutter's League the St. Louis Cardinals made waves by trading away Adam Wainwright, Matt Adams, and Jhonny Peralta. They picked up Xavier Bogaerts for Wainwright. Then Brett Butler and Drew Pomeranz in Adams/Peralta trade. But the big noise came in week #2 when Michael Wacha through the first Diamond Cutter's league no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates (video below). Wacha was on mark as the Cardinals beat the Pirates 5-0 to help turn around a awful start of the week with three losses to the Washington Nationals. The Cards went into the Wacha game losing 6 out of 8 games but Wacha help put the cards back on track as they end the week going 6 and 6. The Cardinals now stand at 13 and 14 with big games in week #3 against the Cubs and Braves.
