Post-Game Analysis: Week 8

Following their bye week, Tennessee had hoped to get back to .500 in New England. Some early mistakes by the Titans cost them, including a Marcus Mariota fumble early on. The Titans did, however, manage to respond in the 2nd Quarter, with Mariota leading the team down the field to score 14 points to sit at 2 pt. deficit going into halftime with the score being 16-14. The Titans managed to take that lead back in the 3rd Quarter with a Ryan Succop field goal and further expanding it by another one midway through the 4th. Two late game mistakes allowed the Patriots to score 14 unanswered and win by 10. A Mariota INT on a 50-50 ball intended for Bryant, lead to Malcolm Butler picking it in the endzone. Tennessee needed a stop, with a timeout to spare to force the ball back to their offense and potentially drive down the field and send it to OT at the very least. Instead Dion Lewis broke off a 74 yd TD run. Offensively Tennessee managed to pick up momentum several times only to lose it following a big play, 5 of which were Mariota sacks. Vladimir Gado ended up splitting reps with Henry and Vallejo, with both Gado and Henry having 9 carries and Vallejo having 8. Henry failed to live up to expectations as on 9 carries he only had 15 yds, compared to Gado's 46 and Vallejo's 30. Expect Henry to be rotated in, but not getting near as many carries. Mariota finished the day completing 72% of his throws for 289 yds, 2 TDs and 1 INT, giving him a QBR of 126.1 in the loss. WR Martavis Bryant led the team in catches today with 5, for 157 yds and both of Mariota's passing TDs. The Titans hope to get back on track at home next week against the division rival and leader Jaguars who sit at 7-0.
