The New York Jets season comes to a blistering stop, as the season ends with the Jets dropping 8 of their last 9, and 7 straight at one point. The season did not begin with high hopes, but no one expected a season where the team would lose 7 straight. The draft left the fans of New York feeling like they were on their way to improving, but the results did not follow.

After the draft, there were minimum roster moves made, most that were intended to free cap space for the upcoming season according to team gm and majority owner Sam Hinkie. "We are looking to cut the fat from this franchise, and focus on making smart budget decisions, while also acquiring talent and assets." The fans were happy to see minimum changes when it came to their favorites, but many thought action needed to be taken, and it simply was not. Despite that, there were some honorable mentions among some of the players.

Brandon Marshall didn't have a year to put in the record books, but was solid all around. 61 catches, 1075 yards and 12 tds isn't anything to set the world on fire, but he was a reliable target for the rotating door of quarterbacks that assembled the Jets starting lineup. Marshall only surrendered two drops the entire year. Martellus Bennett became the steady check down man for the Jets, leading the team in catches at 71. The defense was by no means elite this year, but some individual players really stood out. Rookie outside linebacker Tim Williams registered a decent season, showing great promise after being moved into his rightful spot at pass rusher. He finished the year with 8 sacks. Middle linebackers David Harris and Darron Lee were great this year, as both men recorded 4 interceptions each, Harris also having 1 forced fumbe, 1 defensive touchdown and 46 solo tackles to show that he is not ready to surrender to father time. Darron Lee on the other hand is showing great promise in just his second year out of Ohio State. Along with his 4 interceptions he also forced 4 fumbles and took 4 of those turnovers back for touchdowns. Darrelle Revis pitched in a high tackle total and 7 interceptions to show he is still a top corner in this league.

That leads to the bad news. The team was overall abysmal on both sides of the ball. Todd Bowles did not show his best side this year, as his team's offense ranked 30th in PPG, 32nd in YPG, and 29th in both passing yards and rushing yards. The defense, supposedly Todd Bowles specialty, was middle of the pack at best. They allowed 14th fewest points, 17th fewest yards, and delayed opposing teams passing to the tune of 13th fewest. So not bad, but by no means elite.

Due to almost no strides, Sam Hinkie announced during the wildcard round week of the playoffs that Head Coach Todd Bowles was being relieved of his duties as Head Coach of the New York Jets and that an immediate search for a new Head Coach was to begin.

With a new year approaching, the rumors will begin about a lot of things. These two things are for certain: the Jets will have a new starting quarterback next season, neither of which will be Ryan Fitzpatrick or Mike Glennon. The second is something we could all guess once Sam Hinkie took over: assets will be obtained. If the best value on the board is not what the Jets want, the picks will get turned over for more picks. The Jets will be in the mix of many trade conversations draft day if they cannot get who they want at that top 7 pick.
