Our friend pastapadre posted something yesterday that has a lot of NBA 2k gamers getting excited. Apparently, 2k has the license for 11 NCAA schools. Speculation is that they will use those licenses in the MyPlayer career mode, possibly going through the NCAA tournament before being drafted.
It made me think of how this could be implemented into other sports titles.
Imagine starting your Road to the Show in MLB as a player for one of 12 or so different licensed universities and competing in the College World Series. Or maybe playing as a member of a real college team in the College Football Playoff against other licensed teams before being drafted into a new single player mode.
I think the possibilities are endless and give props to 2k for thinking outside the box. Hopefully other games will follow suit and add a new layer of authenticity to their professional league offerings while we wait for the NCAA mess to get sorted out.
