Owner: Michael Dell - The Texas computer magnate bought the Texans franchise from Bob McNair this offseason for $2.5B. McNair had been the only owner of the franchise in it's 16 year history. Dell, a resident of Austin, plans to continue building the team into a perennial playoff contender. Dell hopes to bring Houston it's first ever Super Bowl title and the state of Texas its first NFL champion since 1995.

Offense: Balanced - Head coach Bill O'Brien continues to buck the current spread offense trend in the NFL and stick to the pro-style attack that made him successful in New England. Expect to see the Texans feature plenty of two running back sets in their primary offense with two tight end and three wide receivers sets mixed in. Look for Lamar Miller and Alfred Blue to be featured heavily as the Texans look to take the pressure off of new starting quarterback Brock Osweiler early on. As Osweiler develops, the Texans will likely try to utilize his arm strength more and try to stretch defenses with speedy receivers DeAndre Hopkins, Will Fuller, Jalen Strong and Braxton Miller.

Defense: Zone blitz 3-4 - O'Brien would like to switch to a 4-3 at some point but will stick with Romeo Crennel's 3-4 for another season. The Texans have primarily relied on defensive end J.J. Watt to get pressure the past three years with Whitney Mercilus emerging as a solid rusher at linebacker on the opposite side in 2015. O'Brien wants to turn up the heat this year and get weakside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney more involved in the pass rush. He also plans to use a variety of blitzers from different angles to confuse the offense and free up Watt for more one-on-one opportunities.

HOUSTON --- The Houston Texans have announced a major shift in defensive philosophy, switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 beginning with the 2016 season. The change in philosophy also means significant changes for several top players who will have changed roles under the new scheme. Most notable among them is superstar J.J. Watt who will shift to defensive tackle after becoming one of the games most feared players at defensive end.

Watt had become a consistent 20 sack performer at end and will now be more responsible as a run defender in the middle of the 4-3. Jadeveon Clowney, a defensive end in college, will shift back his more natural position and will look to fill some of the pressure expected to be lost from moving Watt inside. Linebacker Whitney Mercillus will also move to end solidifying what should be one of the most fearsome defensive lines in football (with Watt, Clowney and tackle Vince Wilfork). The new defense will debut when the Texans start the season this weekend hosting the Chicago Bears at NRG Stadium.
