After starting the season 4-1, the New York Giants enter their bye week dropping the last two games. Not only have they lost their last two, but they have not lost them in pretty fashion, losing 38-6 to the Rams in their last outing. We caught up with owner Johnny Persia to ask him what the difference has been these last couple of weeks and he replied, “The difference has been obvious. In the first five games we were able to minimize the turnovers. In the last two games, Eli has at least 10 interceptions and who knows how many fumbles.” One of the goals for the Giants entering the season was to minimize the turnovers as much as possible. Through the first five games, Eli only had 4 interceptions, but that number has ballooned in the last two games, which continues to put the defense in a bad spot.

The Giants have to return to running the ball on the offensive side to take pressure off Eli in the passing game. The stats for some of the offensive Giants’ players are as follows:

Eli Manning – 113 / 184 attempts, 61% completion rate. 12 tds, 13 ints (10 of which of come in the last two games)

Rashard Jennings – 92 carries for 493 yards, 5.4 avg. 3 td.

Shane Vereen – 36 carries for 144 yards, 4.0 avg. 1 td.

Odell Beckham – 36 catches, 810 yards, 7 tds.

Victor Cruz – 20 catches, 231 yards, 1 td.

Sterling Shepard – 16 catches, 226 yards, 1 td.

Rashad Jennings – 12 catches, 126 yards, 2 tds.

As we can see, Odell Beckham is off to another great start. The Giants plan to use the bye week and extra practice to try to work on some offensive formations and plays to minimize the turnovers.
