Pete Carroll spoke briefly to reporters after Thursday's practice.
Carroll: "Everybody looked great out there today. (Paul) Richardson sat out with a sore shoulder but he should be good to go for the game. Malcolm (Smith) has left us as of yesterday yesterday in a trade with Chicago. Our organization appreciates his contributions the past few seasons and in the Super Bowl last February and wishes him the best of luck in Chicago."

Monday Night Meltdown!
Eagles spank Colts in primetime
The hype around this game included two questions. Could the Eagles defense hold Andrew Luck and his prolific passing attack in place; and could LeSean "Shady" McCoy be contained. The answer was Yes (and No) and NO!.

The game started with the Eagles winning to coin flip and electing to receive the kickoff. An odd move by Chip Kelly. The Eagles moved the ball down the field at ease, but were stopped inside the 20 yard line and were forced to kick a field goal. 3-0 Eagles. Ensuing Colts possession, Luck is moving the ball. Thanks to some good running by Bradshaw. Luck hits TE Coby Fleener across the middle, who makes one man miss and gets a key block on the edge, 53 yards later the Colts are up 7-3. The Eagles drive down the field and LeSean ends up getting into the endzone. Big answer by the Eagles. 10-7 Eagles regain the lead. The Colts move the ball a bit, but Luck makes a bad read and the ball gets intercepted. Eagles take over and are moving the ball down the field. 3rd and inches is the down. "Foles takes the snap...quick throw across the middle...incomplete!" Eagles are forced to punt. Big stop by the Colts D and you can feel momentum shifting. Luck brushes off the mistake on the last drive and moves it all the way inside the Eagles 10 yard line. "Second down here. Andre Luck hard count at the line. Takes the snap, quick throw on the TE comeback. PICKED OFF!!!!" Luck had made another crucial mistake. The Eagles would capitalize while Foles & Company drove it right down the field for an Eagles touchdown. The game didnt get much better. Ill spare you the details and just tell you the Eagles took a 27-7 lead going into the half.

The third quarter wasnt much batter. Colts received the ball first and went 3 and out. Eagles capitalized with another score. Luck came back throwing another INT. Lucas Oil had a deathly silent crowd. The life had been sucked out of the stands. Luck had to make it better, atleast regain some confidence. He would do just that. He threw 3 4th quarter touchdowns, including a 80 yard td to Hakeem Nicks. (*I wish i could have gotten the highlight for it. Nicks ran a 20 yard post to the middle of the field. Went up, collided with the safety in mid air and somehow still caught the pass, stayed on his feet and out ran 2 defenders for the score. It was one of the coolest plays ive ever seen in madden.*) The Colts regained some ounce of dignity, but still gave up points in the 4th and ended up losing BIG.

Final Score: Eagles 48 @ Colts 28

Burning question this week. WTH happened to the Colts defense? They couldnt cover a nose bleed.

Regular season week#2 eagles vs. Colts

On a Monday night an Indy the eagles took their talents to Lucas oil stadium and game away with in impressive win.

L.McCoy had a record breaking night actually a night for the ages a night that hall of fame members dream of,after the game McCoy had this to say "the holes was opening and I was running ,in the words of forest gump ,I was running and running." he laughed and signed jersey after those words.if the eagles continue to play the way they are it'll be extremely hard to stop ,even though colts scored late in the second half the punishment was delivered from the second drive of Philadelphia ,Andrew luck like a star on a cloudy day but if luck, luck wasn't enough to stop mcoy for breaking of 64yds touchdown runs........#GO BIRDS

Seattle Seahawks (1-0) at
San Diego Chargers (1-0)

The Chargers came out red hot in front of their home crowd. On the opening drive, Rivers led them beautifully down the field, ending with a field goal. On the second play on the first possession, Wilson threw a pass high over Sidney Rice and into the hands of CB Jason Verett. San Diego would score on the ensuing possession on a 76 yard catch and run by Michael Floyd. The Chargers were getting it done, despite missing starters Ryan Mathews, Antonio Gates, and Eddie Royal. On the next possession, Russell Wilson was sacked off the edge on a missed block by Alvin Baily who was filling in for Russell Okung, who has a torn shoulder muscle. On the very next play, Wilson overthrew a post route to Zach Miller to be intercepted again by Jason Verrett. SanDiego would score on their drive on a four yard run by Danny Woodhead, making the score 17-0. On the very next possession, Wilson led Seattle into Chargers territory. On a play action pass, Wilson threw up a duck into double coverage and was picked off by Marcus Gilchrist. After the Chargers went three and out, Seattle would get back 7 on a play action out route to Zach Miller on a 3rd and inches, completely faking out the defense as Miller jogged 36 yards untouched.
Halftime
Seattle Seahawks: 7
San Diego Chargers: 17

Seattle to the ball to start the half, but after a 32 yard screen pass to Marshawn Lynch, Wilson made yet another mistake, throwing the ball out of reach of Jermaine Kearse and into the waiting arms of Jason Verrett. San Diego would pick up a field goal, and Seattle would get a touchdown courtesy of Lunch on their drive. Seattle had the ball to start the fourth quarter, down by 6. The San Diego pass defense had been stifling, and it was apparent that Wilson was not confident in his throwing abilities. Good thing Marshawn Lynch has a strong back, because he put the entire team on it, rushing for 66 of the drives 80 yards. The seahawks got down to a 4th and 1 on the goaline, the snap, it's a sneak, Wilson jumps, he's hit and knocked backward. Did he get it? After a booth review, yes he did. TOUCHDOWN SEAHAWKS. Seattle up 1 with 1:53 to play. Unfortunately for Seattle, their defense could not contain Rivers and his makeshift receiving corps, their drive ending with a 50 yard field goal putting then up 2 with 13 seconds to play. The ensuing kickoff was a squib, caught right away by Doug Baldwin and returned to midfield. The first play, it's an out route, the pass outside to Sidney Rice, it's off target,WAIT, what a stellar one handed grab by Rice, the Seahawks pick up 10. One timeout left, 9 seconds to play, Wilson drops bag, finds Hearse open on a drag, he fires, it's caught, Kearse bounces backward off a defender and is tackled, only a two yard gain and the Seahawks are out of timeouts. Four seconds to play. Looks like everything is now riding on the leg of Steven Hauschka. They line up, San Diego takes a timeout. Hays khan and the line take their places. A field goal wins It for Seattle. Anything else means a loss. The snap is good, Hauschka gets good contact, it's straight on, if it's got the distance it's in, CLANG, right off the front of the goalpost and back toward the field of play. It's over. Chargers have won. Chants can be heard of San Diego, SUPER CHARGERS. An overall nightmarish performance by the Seahawks, who came in confident against a San Diego team riddled with injuries.

Final Score

San Diego Chargers (2-0): 23

Week 2: Detroit Lions @ Carolina Panthers

Lions Tamed By Mistakes in 23-17 Loss to Panthers

20140913_130837_1.jpg

Lions QB Matthew Stafford throws loss-sealing INT to Panthers CB Antoine Cason (#20)
on pass intended for WR Calvin Johnson with 1:16 left in game

Week 2
(0-1-1) Lions 17
vs.
(1-1) Panthers 23

The week 2 matchup between the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers ended as it began for the Lions: With QB Matthew Stafford throwing an Interception. He had one on his first throw of the game, that time to MLB Luke Kuechly, and finally to CB Antoine Cason in the 4th quarter to seal a 23-17 loss for the visiting Lions.

It was a bounce-back game for the Panthers, who's own Owner called them "the worst team in the NFL" after their embarrassing loss to Mike Glennon and the Buccaneers in week 1. This time, the Panthers came out determined to change their owner's mind. QB Cam Newton and HB DeAngelo Williams came out HOT through the air and on ground to lead the Panthers to a TD to go up 7-0 early. On the Lions first play of their first possession, Stafford threw an INT over the middle to MLB Luke Kuechly, and the Panthers came away with an easy 3 points to go up 10-0, but could just have easily gotten another TD if not for a dropped pass by TE Olsen.

The Panthers kept up the momentum, gaining a 17-0 lead in the 2nd Quarter before both teams traded Field Goals right before halftime to go into the 3rd quarter with the Panthers up 20-3.

The Panthers received some possibly season-threatening news when right before halftime, while attempting a read-option run to get into the end-zone, QB Cam Newton was hit in the backfield and went down with an injury. He wouldn't be able to return to the game and the trainers reported that he would likely miss several weeks with a broken collarbone. Backup QB Joe Webb would come in and finish the drive with a FG before the team went back to the locker room for halftime.

The Panthers attack was notably subdued when they returned from the half, causing them to almost squander their lead. Joe Webb's air attack never got going, so he was forced to make plays with his legs, but could only manage 3 points for the rest of the game. The Lions picked apart the Panthers defense with Calvin Johnson closing the score to 23-17, and almost made a full come back for a win when they got the ball with under 2 minutes to play and only down 6 points. However, the Panthers defense went into clutch mode, sacking Stafford 3 straight times to force a 4th and 28 within the Lions own 15. Stafford rolled right to avoid pressure and threw up a pass to Calvin Johnson only to see it picked off and the Panthers kneel the game out for the win.

Game Stats

Panthers
QB Cam Newton: 8/13 for 102 yards
QB Joe Webb: 5/12 for 57 yards. 4 rushes for 40 yards
HB DeAngelo Williams: 14 rushes for 48 yards, 1 TD
TE Greg Olsen: 6 catches for 96 yards

Lions
QB Matthew Stafford: 20/27 for 235 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 5 sacks
HB Joique Bell: 10 rushes for 43 yards, 1 TD
WR Calvin Johnson: 5 catches for 57 yards

Luck suffers broken Collarbone in Colts win over Jags

The Colts are in some real trouble. Andrew Luck was sacked in the first quarter and had to leave the game. After a sloppy game by both the offense and defense, the fans and organization were told news they feared. Luck suffered a severe fracture in his collarbone and would miss the next 6 weeks, possible 7. "Its a hard pill to swallow." said Reggie Wayne. "One minute he's on pace to throw 4,000+ yards and the next he's out for half the year." Veteran Matt Hasselbeck finished the game and played fairly well. Coach Chuck Pagano had a few words after the game. "We have a veteran who knows the game and is confident in carrying the team while Andrew is recovering. This isnt a setback for us." We shall see in the upcoming weeks coach. Luck, only in his 3rd year, has youth on his side. Hopefully he can recover quickly and lead the Colts on a deep playoff run.

Eagles vs.redskins
Battle for the top of the NFC East..
Sunday football at it's best.opening drive philadelphia scored and the kicked the ball off and after a redskin turnover the found the end zone ,but like theneagle typical scoring (the likes of shady McCoy )3rd yr QB.Nick foles threw the first two touchdowns of the game.the redskins held the dynamic "shady McCoy" to 46yrds at halftime, but that wouldn't be the case for long,he finished with 120yds on the ground ,he is by far having a great start of the season and it helps that is birds are 3-0,look NFC East and the rest of the NFL the E.A.G.L.E.S. Are on a mission and they are on the right path can we say super bowl,we can just not yet,now the redskins came to play and surprisingly so did Philly "D" sacking RGIII on more than one occasion and forcing two big interception.the eagles look like a reincarnated version on the 92-93 eagles with the legendary Reggie white and Jerome brown,I might be reaching but they are exciting to watch...this is Mike Quick #happybirdsfan.

Regular Season Week 3
(0-2) Denver Broncos at
(1-1) Seattle Seahawks

The 12s were as loud as ever, hoping to witness a repeat of what occurred in the Super Bowl 7 months prior. Seattle won the toss and deferred, making Manning and the Broncos go to work against the best defense in the NFL.
Just like the Super Bowl, the game started with a mistake from the Broncos. On a handoff to Montee Ball up the middle, Ball was hit by Cliff Avril and spun off of him. As Ball fell to the ground he was fighting for extra yards when Kam Chancellor poked the ball out, picked up by LB Bruce Irvin, and ran back to the seven yard line, First and Goal Seahawks. The refs went to the booth, and after extensive scrutiny reversed the call (I saw the play myself and thought there was not conclusive evidence). Anyways, Manning was unstoppable all the way down to the Seattle 2, where the Seahawks made a 3 play stand to force a field goal. Wilson would get sacked on 3rd and 5 on the ensuing drive, pushing the Seahawks put of field goal range, and after a punt, Manning led the Broncos down the field again, capping it off with a play action pass to Emmanuel Sanders for a one yard score. Seattle would get the ball back, and after a three yard toss play to Lynch, Wilson showed off his arm on a jump ball to Percy Harvin, who caught the ball in stride, shed his defender and went 77 yards for the touchdown. The Broncos went down the field again and scored on a 1 yd run from Ball. Seattle drove the ball down to the Denver 20 on a two minute drill when Wilson found Harvin in the corner of the end zone with 5 seconds to play in the half (the catch would be reviewed and confirmed).

Halftime
Denver Broncos: 17
Seattle Seahawks: 14

Both Manning and Wilson had a hard time getting anything going in the third quarter, mostly due to the acrobatic pass defenses by Aqib Talib and Richard Sherman. With 5:51 in the fourth Seattle would get a 24 yard field goal after failing to convert on a third and 1. Things were tied at seventeen and Denver had the ball on their own 30, third and inches. The handoff was to ball, a dive play, when BAM, Kam Chancellor shot the A gap and popped the ball from Ball, as Chancellor fell on it to recover the fumble. Seattle now had the ball with 3 minutes to play, tie score. After a few short runs by Lynch, Wilson ran a play action, rolled out of the pocket, pump faked to Zach Miller, looking, tucking the football, great block from FB Derrick Coleman, and the dive, and he's in, touchdown, Russel Wilson, a six yard scramble.
Denver would get the ball, 1:51 left on the clock, 2nd and 10, Manning pumps, looks, can't find anyone, and bam there's second string DE Benson Mayowa, poking the ball loose and diving to recover. But the ball pops out of his hands, there's a scramble for the ball, when finally LG Luis Vasquez falls on it amidst a pile of lineman. Although they got the recovery, it was a huge loss of yards. 3rd and 24, Manning drops,
nobody open, he tucks the ball and is sacked by Michael Bennett, one of the league leaders in sacks. 4th and 31, Broncos lining up to go for it. It's an out route to Emmanuel Sanders, he's running, and is punched out of bounds by Jeremy Lane after a pickup of about 20. The Seahawks would get the Ball but Denver had two timeouts. First down and a pickup of 5. 2nd down, stuffed in the backfield. On third down Lynch slipped a tackle and trucked over a linebacker for a first down Seattle. And that would just about do it for the Seahawks

Final Score
(0-3) Denver Broncos: 17
(2-1) Seattle Seahawks: 24

Game Stats:
QB P. Manning: 20-26, 240 yd, 1 td,
WR P. Harvin: 2 rec, 97 yd, 2 td
MLB B. Wagner: 8 tak, 3 tfl, 1 sack
SS K. Chancellor: 8 tak, 1 pdef, 1 ffum
KR P. Harvin: 3 kr, 95 yd

COLTS WIN
Cardiac Colts steal a victory
I'll spare you the details and fast forward you to 8:50 left in the 4th quarter. The Titans have a 33-14 lead over the Colts and have absolutely dominated them the whole game. Hasselbeck looked terrible, throwing 3 ints and only leading 1 scoring drive and the defense.....lets not even go there. Anyway, the Colts had just given up a Kendall Hunter td run to make it a 33-14 game. Tennessee had all the momentum. All they had to do was stop the Colts once and the game was over....
"First and 10 from the their own 22 yard line. Hasselbeck takes the snap. Looking..firing across the middle..he's got Coby Fleener for a 16 yard gain." Ahmad Bradshaw would carry the workload on the drive. Rushing for 51 of the 78 yards. "Colts are on Tennessee's 17 yard line. Hasselbeck looks right, rolls right. He's scrambling. Throws on the run and its incomplete to intended target Reggie Wayne.... Oh Wait... Hasselbeck is down. This doesnt look good at all." Hasselbeck had to be carted off the field. The stadium grew even more quite. Majority of the fans were leaving the stadium early to beat the traffic. 3rd string QB and 3rd year man, Chandler Harnish came into the game. Never before taking an NFL snap, he was the man entrusted in leading the Colts offense. "Harnish drops back looks across the middle....TOUCHDOWN! Harnish threw a beautiful touch pass to Coby Fleener in the back of the endzone. The Colts cut the lead to 33-21. The Titans marched down the field picking up 2 big first downs and trying to drain the clock. Finally a beat up Colts defense was able to hold them on third down, just outside of field goal range, the Titans were forced to punt. Harnish, like a seasoned veteran, moved his team down the field. The Colts were in hurry up mode. Trying to score before the two minute warning. "Harnish drops back in shotgun, slings the ball to the left. He's got Hilton for a 18 yard gain. "Harnish again looking down the field. Hakeem Nicks is open. Complete to the Titans 44 yard line. Another great throw by Harnish. This time a gain of 32 yards." A few plays later and with the clock only 15 seconds away from the 2 minute warning, Harnish delivered a deep throw to Hakeem Nicks for a score. "Harnish again in shotgun, trying to get the play off. He takes the snap......Steps up int he pocket. Throws it downfield. TOUCHDOWN NICKS!!!!!!" Hakeem jumped up and snagged the pass away from Tennessee's safety in the endzone. It was a beautiful reception by Nicks! The Colts now down 33-28 needed one hold on defense. With 2:05 on the clock and 2 timeouts they swibbed the kick in the middle of the field. Rushing to make a tackle and they got to the ball carrier right in time. 2:01 left on the clock. Tennessee would run the ball three times and be stuffed all three times. Colts burned their final 2 timeouts, but were getting the ball back. Harnish took over with 1:43 left to play in the game. "Harnish looks left..firing to Hilton on a deep fade route. He's got him. Hilton breaks a tackle and he gains a few extra yards for a 26 yard gain." Colts hurried to the line. Harnish would throw 4 more completions in a row. Putting his team in position to score with :34 seconds left. "Harnish takes the snap. Looks middle. He lobs the pass to the back of the endzone. FLEENER'S GOT IT!!!!! TOUHDOWN COOOOLLLTTTSSS!" "Harnish will line up for the 2 pt conversion. Throws in right. He's got Hakeem for the 2!!!" 36-33 Colts lead. The stadium was roaring with the fans who decided to stay for the remainder of the game. Tennessee still had all 3 timeouts and plenty of time to get into field goal range. "Charlie Whitehurst drops back. He's got a man across the middle of the field first down. Timeout Titans." :17 seconds left. Titans would complete another pass. Only 25 yards from a possible field goal. "One timeout left. Whitehurst takes the snap..Throwing right. He's got Hunter out of the backfield. This could be trouble. Hunter makes a man miss. He's down the sideline....Hit.....FUMBLE! COLTS RECOVER COLTS RECOVER COLTS RECOVER!!!!! :5 seconds left in the game and the Colts have the ball!!!!!!!!" Harnish would kneel. Game over. Colts comeback 36-33. What a finish.

Things I noticed: Red is area of concern
Titans stats: QB: Charlie Whitehurst 23-29 248 yards 2 tds 0 ints
RB: Kendall Hunter: 32 att. 159 yards 1 td
next Titans RB behind Hunter- Willis McGahee with 5 att. 14 yards

Whitehurst looked ridiculously good. Hunter was unstoppable most of the game. His 159 yards isnt what bothers me. Its the 32 att. he had. No NFL rb today runs that many time.

Week#4
SF 17 vs PHI 10

This the Philadelphia inquirer reporting either. Great defensive game or a horrible offensive game, this Sunday afternoon.

It started out with SF.winning the coin toss and going 74yds down the field to kick and 7 yd (Dawson) fg.and that was the only score all the wa up into 1:43 left in the second when M.Jenkins intercepts kappernick pass that would eventually led to Philly evening up the score after marching 62yds down field,to only kick a fg.

I don't know what or if coach Kelly said anything to his team at half time ,but obviously they wasn't listen or didn't care.
Philly receives the ball after halftime and after foles completing a 2yd pass to McCoy his second pass is intercepted .SF takes it right to Philly runnig up the gut of the D-Line looked like they was on vacation ,f.gore got SF down to the 18yd line and then off a playaction kappernick hits Stevie Johnson for a TD,Philly gets the ball back and 3 and out. Sf receives the punt and relies strictly on the running of F.Gore.who would eventually break of a run for over 20 yds for another SF.TD with 8:03 left ,all Philly fans across the world knew that the fat lady was warming ,being down 2touchdowns with 8 minutes left was near to impossible especially how we was playing today.but we got a touchdown from B.celek with 4:13 left in the 4th so we might could tie it up and force overtime but that was wishful thinking right? Well the Philly diffence finally holds and get the ball back with 1:56left in the 4th they are marching when Foles drops back and hit B.celek up the middle,so since that works coach Kelly goes back to Celek up the middle for about 20yds only to have him fumble with 49secs left, after that all kappernick did was take a knee and let the clock run out..

Well bird fans we all knew we would have to lose on week ,I for one just hoped that we would put up a fight ,or run away from the pocher as they come to capture us to become a head piece or food for a holiday meal.

This is the legendary Harold Carmicheal ,going home to cry,.....

SF
Kappernick 10-12,126yds,1td,1int.
F.Gore 28 ATT, 114yds, 1td
Stevie Johnson 5rec, 90yds,1td.

Phila.
Foles 15-29, 206yds,1td,1int
L.MCcoy 11att,65yds

Dallas Cowboys (4-1) at
Seattle Seahawks (3-1)

Recap:
Seattle won the toss and deferred. On the third play of the drive, 3rd and 2, Tony Romo rolls to his left, tucks the ball for the first down marker, and is popped by Bruce Irvin. Romo suffered a concussion on the play and was out for the game. The Cowboys punted it away and Robert Turbin, filling in for the injured Marshawn Lynch, took the Seahawks down the field and scored on a 9 yd touchdown.
A few three and outs ensued, the Cowboys once having possession on the Seattle 35 until an out route pass to Witten was picked by Richard Sherman. Russell Wilson ran a play action, had Percy Harvin wide open for the 65 yard TD, and overthrew him by five yards. Later in the quarter Jermaine Kearse would catch a pass on an out route, make two defenders miss, and outrun the safety for a 62 yard td.

Halftime
Dallas Cowboys (4-1): 0
Seattle Seahawks (3-1): 14

After a Robert Turbin fumble on the opening drive of the half, Weeden would find Hill on an out route, who juked out Earl Thomas for a 54 yard score. Seattle would get them back, on a third and 1 play action where Wilson took it himself 41 yards for a touchdown. Dallas would throw a pick to Earl Thomas but Turbin funbled it away on the following possession. This time Weedem capitalized on a 12 yard pass across the middle to Trent Richardson. The seahawks would drive and score on a 6 yard Robert turbin score, and Weeden would drive capped off by a 1 yd td from T Richardson. With Dallas down 7, they needed a stop on third and four but could not bring down Turbin before the first down marker.

Final Score
Dallas Cowboys (4-2): 21
Seattle Seahawks (4-1): 28

Sorry about no stats or a more descriptive recap I am very busy this week.
