Present
Jason Mccourty leads the way at CB and the 6'0 27 year old brings a 87 rating with him. He had 85 tackles, 2 FF, and 3 interceptions last year. The other starting CB and nickle back will be a fight between Parrish Cox and Blidi Wreh Wilson. Parrish had 5 interceptions last year for SF and is a 79 overall. Wilson has good size at 6'1 198 but the former 3rd round pick only has 1 interception in 2 years. The only other CB of note is Coty Sensabaugh who had 47 tackles last year and was a 4th round pick in 2012.

The titans are in good shape as the two starting safties are Danoris Searcy and Michael Griffin. Searcy played the previous 4 years in Buffalo and has a solid 86 rating. He is bit undersized for a saftey at 5'11 206. Michal Griffin is still going strong as the 2007 1st round pick had over 100 tackles and 2 interceptions last year. If one of them gets hurt it could go down south in a hurry because the depth isn't pretty. Maquston Huff was a 4th round pick from Wyoming and had 18 tackles as a rookie. Damion Stafford had 33 tackles and 1 interception last year.

Future
Mccourty is 27 and he should have several more years left as the #1 CB. We don't know Blidi Wreh Wilson's rating yet but he is just 25 and should atleast be ok as the nickle back for the next 3 years. Cox and Sansabaugh are ok options for the short term but to get to the next level they need to be upgraded.

Griffin is now 30 so its time to start thinking about his replacement while Searcy is 26 and with a 86 rating isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Keep a eye out on UDFA Cody Prewitt from Ole Miss. CB is like pass rusher and if you get a chance to bring in quality talent you take it no matter how much depth you have. Saftey isn't the kind of position you draft high but you may be forced to reach in the mid rounds.

The Star - Jason Mccourty
The Unknown - Blidi Wreh Wilson
Start Packing your bags - Coty Sensabaugh
Priority - High

Final 2015 stats

Perrish Cox - 61 tackles, 5 Int.
Jason Mccourty - 55 tackles, 4 Int.
Blidi Wreh Wilson - 47 tackles, 1 Int.
Marqueston Huff - 89 tackles,
Danorris Searcy - 98 tackles, 3 Int, 3 FR

Thoughts
Base on the talent of the DB then this unit performed about as well as you could expect. The CB duo of Cox and Mccourty proved to be playmakers and Searcy was as expected the best player of the bunch. Some help is needed at the slot CB spot and FS where Huff didn't record a single interception. Remember that its not always a good thing for your DB to be making tackles.

2020 DB Preview

Jamal Boone is the leader of the secondary he is the guy who had the game wining interception against the chargers in the playoffs. His is a excellent in zone coverage and had 96 tackles the last 2 years. Da'Norris Searcy is still holding down the SS spot. Marqeston Huff would likely get the call if one of the starters got hurt as he has been the primary backup for 6 years now. He will miss some tackles, but has good speed and zone coverage. BJ Mason is a former 3rd round pick and had 11 tackles this week in the preseason game against the redskins. He was drafted mostly because he is a known playmaker so he could see some snaps on 3rd and long.

CB is the weakest spot on the defense as there isn't much depth with only 4 on the roster. Huff has the speed and coverage skills so he will be the 5th CB. Kyle Fuller and Kevin Johnson are the starting CB's with Alex Carter playing the nickel. All 3 are similar players 6'0 with good speed and mid 90's zone coverage. Fuller will be the #1 as he has the best hands and best press rating of the bunch. DJ Hayden will provide depth after being signed for a cheap deal this offseason.
