Our team is playing at a very high level and we have some of the best players in the league. We could easily win the Super Bowl again this year.
Kenny Vaccaro was an absolute standout player for you last year, recording 12 INT. Explain what Kenny means to this team, and this city.
He’s a hell of a player. He’s one of the smartest players I know, he’s fast, and plays through the whistle. He means a lot to this team and this city. We want to keep him here for a very long time. We have the two best safeties in the league, and they make opposing quarterbacks cringe.
Drew Brees. 2014 NFL MVP. He won the award at 35 years old. He is now 36, with 2 years left on his contract here in New Orleans. He has been a savior of sorts to this city, especially winning the superbowl the same year that the nasty Katrina hurricane blew through. He'll be 38 when his contract runs out. What's the QB situation for him. Alot of owners try to discard the older QB's, but with just Brees and Vick, who is 35, on your roster. Are you going to ride this thing out with Brees? Will he retire a Saint?
Yes, Drew Brees will be a Saint forever. As long as he wants to play for this team he’s our QB, even if he’s 45. When you have the best quarterback in the league, you can't let him go. He’s been the best thing to happen to this organization ever. When he retires he’ll definitely go down as the greatest quarterback of all time.
Who do you think poses the biggest threat to your team? Your team is riding high, but you lost 3 of your last 5 in the regular season last year, before going on to win the Super Bowl. Do you think any of your division rivals can stand up, or do you think anyone outside of the division poses a bigger threat to the Saints for a 2nd run at a Super Bowl?
The way our guys are playing right now, no one has a chance to dethrone the defending Super Bowl champs. These are the best players I've ever been around, they’re something special.
What do you expect from your first round draft pick this year Deantre Poole at linebacker? Is he going to start this year, or are you going to give him time to develop? He dropped a little in the draft for him to still be there when your pick was up. Does that concern you? Also there's been alot of buzz from your 5th round draft pick HB Darnell Grimes. Where does this 6'0 208 pound back fit into the scheme of this team?
We aren’t concerned that Deantre Poole slipped all the way to the end of the first round. When we were on the clock we nearly fell out of our seat that we were saw the best linebacker in the draft was available to us, it was a no brainer. He is starting for us this year, as we are looking to get younger and faster in our linebackers. Darnell Grimes will see occasional play this year. We wanted more depth at RB and liked what we saw in him.
