The Browns finish 3-1 through the 2015 pre season, with the only loss coming to the Denver Broncos in week 2. They looked strong from start to finish. When asked about the Broncos loss owner, Chris BigTex, responded with:

That loss doesn't bother us. It was a complete domination by Denver, but again, this is preseason. After next week no one will remember that game. We see them again week 9 here at home, and that's the game that's going to matter.

A few snippits from Chris BigTex's press conference.

Johnny has progressed well so far to this stage in his NFL career, and he will put us in a position for the playoffs. We have a better defense than we did last year, and our defense was ranked 1 last year.

Maurice Jones-Drew has been great for this team. He rushed for over 1,000 yards last year, and was a pro bowler. This year he has shown some disinterest in being with this team, and we are quite regreful for that, but we will grant his wish, and look for an opportunity to get him where he wants to go.

I was very impressed by our rookie's play this preseason. We already have a stellar team, and seeing what i saw these last few weeks, shows we have more than a one season ride with this team

Hunter will sit out this season, he may see a few downs here and there. We have a monster vet at MLB and he will teach and mentor Hunter, then we will set the beast free to fly on his own

BREAKING TRADE NEWS:
Fresh out of Cleveland, Adam Schefter, was the first to report the breaking news:
@AdamSchefter Breaking news out of Cleveland, as they send C Mack and HB Jones-Drew to Miami in return for HB Miller, C Bowanko, also the 2nd pick from Miami in the 2016 draft.

i

Alex Mack
6'4 311 pound center out of California. Selected 21st overall in the 2009 draft by Cleveland. He has been a major wrecking ball ever since he came into the league. In 2014 he recorded 17 pancackes while only giving up one sack, going on to finish third in Best OL voting, right behind teammate Joe Thomas. He's heading to Miami where the Dolphins desperately need center help. He'll be a welcome sight for fins fans. Here's a little snippit of what Mack is capable of
(There aren't many good OL videos on youtube lol)

i

Maurice Jones-Drew (MoJo)
5'7 210 pound back out of UCLA. 30 years old with 9 years experience in the league. Very high profile running back, with the explosive moves, and personality he brought to the NFL with him. His career stats include 1,804 carries, 8,484 rushing yards, 113 TD's, 335 receptions, 2,873 receiving yards, and 11 TD's. All those stats exclude last year in which he racked up 250 carries (putting him over 2,000 carries for his career), 1,216 rushing yards (putting him over 10,000 for his career), and 10 touchdowns. On the receiving end he caught 38 balls for 281 receiving yards (putting him over 3,000 for his career) and 1 TD. MJD is still a very solid back in this league, but him and the Browns decided it was time for him to move on. He will make a great fit in Miami backing up Adrian Peterson, and being a solid choice to catch some balls out of the backfield, as well as be a 3rd down back. There's so many options when it comes to MJD:

i

LAMAR MILLER
5'10 218 pound running back out of The U! 24 year old Miller has been in the league for 3 years. He was drafted in the 4th round in 2012 and has really come into his own. A fan favorite down in Miami in recent years, however with the acquisition of Adrian Peterson he hasn't felt he's getting his worth in Miami. The browns are sending MJD to replace Miller as the fins send him to Cleveland. Miller will be an explosive addition to the Browns running game. Ben Tate is the starter, but Miller will be a great 3DRB and could be an option out of the backfield to catch a field. He knows the West Coast offense that Cleveland runs, and will be a great 1-2 punch with Tate. Miller is definitely a guy that can be the "next man up" if something happens to Tate. Miller possesses that "explosive speed" that this browns offense has been lacking. In his 3 years in the league he has racked up 354 rushing attempts, 1,457 rushing yards, and 10 rushing touchdowns along with 38 receptions, 231 receiving yards. We expect much more from this young man in the Browns organization.

i

Luke Bowanko
6'6 300 pound center prospect out of the University of Virginia. He was drafted in the 6th round of the 2014 draft by JAX. He started as a RG, then moved over to C his last two years of college. Bowanko will not start anytime soon it appears unless there is an injury he needs to fill in. While he can be a strong candidate for "the guy" down the road, his experience and footwork still have a way to go. Because of the skill gap between the two centers traded, the Dolphins also threw in their 2016 2nd round draft pick. With Bowanko needing time to develop, and Mack no longer in Cleveland, this will allow for a few guys to make a change. LT Joe Thomas will slide over and take the snaps as center with Mack gone, filling in LT will be Mitchell Schwartz, who normally plays RT. With Schwartz moving sides this opens up the RT spot for Cleveland's Round 1 draft pick last year Whit Hopkins. Everyone is excited to see what this youngster can do, and now he gets his chance. Joel Bitonio and John Greco will stay where they are at RG and LG respectively.

Press Conference Quotes:
I was really impressed with the way Johnny finished the season. He went 42/56 460 Yards and 5 TD. He had a 105.0 QBR, and 75% completion rating in week 17 vs the Ravens, and the wild card round combined. I really liked seeing him perform at a high level towards the end of the season. However, in the divisional round, you saw the inexperience come out in Manziel. This will change with time.

Ben Tate had 3 rushing touchdowns on 10 carries in that divisional round game vs the Chiefs. he averaged 7.2 yards a game. This just proved what kind of back he is, and the work he puts in to improve himself. This is why we resigned him to a 4 year extension.

I have no doubt in my mind we have the team we need to compete. We are young and full of energy. I see us a perennial playoff team. With our great scouting department as well, we are only going to get better.

Josh Gordon wants to play here. He has shown us that. We couldn't quite get a contract right in the season, but we will do whatever it takes to make him a long time Brown. He's a staple of this team, and a fan favorite.

I have high hopes for Chrishon. He plays hard day in and day out. As a part time Dime CB, he recorded 20 Tackles, 1 TFL, 2 INT, and 6 DEFL. With him developing rapidly, and getting more gametime situations, I see this kid joining the lockdown group that currently consists of Haden of Gilbert.

We really wanted to see Flowers and Miller back this year, but both players want to be in a situation to get more playing time as they should. With our talented team, Flowers was a nickel CB, and Miller was a 2nd string running back. They both expressed they wanted to be somewhere where they would start for their team. I wish them both the best, and who knows, maybe in the future we could come to an agreement to have them back here

We WILL win the AFC North again next year in 2016.

You Are Now Entering The No Fly Zone

Cleveland has had a great defense ever since owner, Chris Bigtex, took over the team. In his first year they finished with the first ranked defense, and last year during their divisional playoff run, his Browns finished with the 5th Ranked defense. His defense is even more upgraded now with the new additions to the team. Along with the big names like Joe Haden, and Justin Gilbert, he went ahead and signed Patrick Peterson and William Gay. Patrick Peterson has made a huge name for himself since he has been in the league as one of the best CB's in the game. He will play the 2nd CB opposite of Joe Haden which will be a dangerous combo. He will also take kick returning responsibilities. Gilbert slides down to play the Nickel CB. Bigtex told the press that Gilbert has been struggling, and hopefully in his new role, he can find his drive to get to where him, and his team wants him to be. William Gay, who finished 2nd in the league in INT with 9 was added as well. He will be a good addition into the Dime CB slot. The Quarter CB slot is still up for grabs. It is between 2nd year Chrishon Kilgore, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2015 Draft, and this year's 4th round pick Monte Sherman. Both CB's have the potential to be shut down corners. It's looking as if the rookie will win the Quarter CB slot this year, but don't be surprised to see Kilgore get out there and get some action in. Then over the top you have Donte Whitner at SS who led the team last year with 70 tackles, and is always around the ball. He made a huge #SCTop10 INT against the Chargers in the wildcard round of the playoffs last year which sent the Browns to the divisional round. Then on the other side over the top you have FS Stevie Brown who also is always around the ball as he finished with 60 tackles.

Browns Switch to a 3-4
The Cleveland Browns who have run an attacking 4-3 the previous 2 seasons have switched to an attacking 3-4. The main reason for this switch is to let loose the Browns 2015 1st Round draft pick, MLB Mustafaa Hunter. The Browns have had veteran Karlos Dansby in the middle for a while now, and he has been a huge role model for Hunter. Dansby has also noted that he wants a little less responsibility, so they are letting Hunter see if he can earn that #1 MLB spot. Coach Mike Pettine will make a decision by week 1. With those 2 in the middle, they are joined by Barkevious Mingo (who is in a contract year) on the right side and Paul Kruger on the left. That's a pretty scary linebacking core.

Browns Win The Big Free Agent
L169_CIFRc93a24b3a22e1ff94842a770b020b6c4.jpg

When it was announced that Patrick Peterson was going to test free agency, several franchises were ready to drop their bank accounts in front of him. The Browns were one of those teams. With them looking to strengthen their pass defense they went after Peterson. Once word got out, hundreds of fans started gathering outside FirstEnergy Bank chanting "We Want Patrick, We Want Patrick". Everybody was sporting a shirt that said "Big P in the Big C". Once it was announced Cleveland landed PP, you could hear a simultaneous cheer throughout the whole city. Fans are more excited about their football team than they have been in years. Chris Bigtex stated "This is just the first of many big things to come to Cleveland".

Offseason Quotes from Owner Chris Bigtex

This is just the first of many big things to come to Cleveland
Dansby has been a huge role model for 23 year old Mustafaa Hunter, but we are going to give Hunter his chance to be the #1 LB
If our pass defense gives up more than 2,700 passing yards then we have failed
We will win the AFC North again this year
This team is set up to be a perennial AFC North championship team
We had an OUTSTANDING draft this year, and our rookies are just going to add more value to this team.

Quotes from owner, Chris Bigtex, from the Cincinatti post game press conference:

I just want to thank the Jets and Bengals from giving us two solid weeks of practice as we aim our sights towards the Chiefs game

Our 6th round pick Daryll Tyson was a steal in this draft. An extraordinary talent who is looking to shine bright, and will be a huge asset to our organization.

Season 3 Week 12

BEN TATE OUT 6 WEEKS

dm_141111_nfl_clayton_minute_ben_tate.jpg

Ben Tate will be out 6 weeks due to a broken collarbone. Tate sustained the injury in the first quarter of the Browns game against the Cowboys this week. He left the game after only 4 carries for 26 yards. It took him a while to get up off the field, then he was carted off the field, so you knew it was going to be bad. After further evaluation it was noted that he would be out 6 weeks. With the Browns record at 9-2, chances are they are making the playoffs, so this would keep Tate out until at least the divisional round of the playoffs, maybe even the conference round. Tate's presence on the offense will be missed. For the year he has had 148 attempts for 852 yards and 11 touchdowns, and also has 17 receptions for 207 receiving yards. He was currently 4th in the NFL in rushing.
Backup running back DuJuan Harris really picked up some slack vs the cowboys and having his first breakout game of the year. Harris carried the ball 12 times for 110 yards and 1 touchdown. He also caught 4 balls for 15 yards. 3rd stringer Denard Robinson also contributed by carring the ball 8 times for 40 yards, and caught 1 ball for 14 yards and a touchdown. These two youngsters definatley looked ready to take the charge and make up slack in the absence of Tate, but only time will tell if they are ready for the playoffs.

The Browns also made a few roster moves in the last few weeks. First and foremost, they picked up RB Isaiah Crowell. He was drafted by the Browns in 2014, but was never given a chance to do anything. He then had a short stint with the Oakland Raiders, under owner Warren7. In 2 years there, as a backup, he had 12 carries for 64 yards and a touchdown. This kid has never really been able to show what he can do, and he expects to change that this time around in Cleveland. He will join Harris and Robinson, as they will all split time to keep fresh legs on the field at all times, and try to pick up the slack the Browns are missing from Tate.

The Browns also signed two more players as they felt they were lacking depth in those two positions. The first was DT Devon Still. Nobody at this point is sure if this was a serious move and he will actually play, or if it was just a publicity stunt as where Devin is, the media follows. The 2nd free agent the Browns signed is 6'4 301 pound RG Ryan Seymour. This is also Seymour's 2nd stint with the Browns. Again, for now this is only for depth.

JOSH GORDON WINS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

espnapi_gordon_josh_g_mr_576x324_wmain.jpg

Josh Gordon finally has the BIG game everyone was expecting from him all year long. He continues to show week in and week out why he is one of the best in the league. Last week just proved that even more. In Week 11's game vs the Dolphins, he grabbed 7 balls for 216 yards and 1 touchdown. What made that even more special is the Browns were down 31-14 in the 4th quarter when Manziel threw his 5th INT of the game. Pettine took Johnny out and put in the veteran Cutler. Cutler went 7/8 for 186 yards and 2 touchdowns in a comeback win. The Browns won 35-31. Gordon snagged 3 huge balls in that 4th quarter, including a 58 yard fly route for a touchdown. That's what is so scary about this team, is even when everything isn't clicking, they keep their composure and still can pull out a win.

Season 3 Week 17
Going into the last week of the season, Cleveland is sitting pretty with a 13-2 record. They have clinched the playoffs, and word on the wire is they are going to bench their starters for their game at home vs the 2-13 Giants. Here is some highlights from owner, Chris Bigtex's, press conference:

I am pleased with this team, and how they have performed this year. 13-2 is our best record yet, and I have all the faith in the world in my guys to win the big dance.
Our starters will be sitting for the last game with a few exceptions. Patrick Peterson has been hurt the last 3 weeks. I gave him a set goal to hit, and he is one INT away from that goal. Plus, we want to get him back into the swing of things going into the playoffs.
Our #2 rookie WR Daryll Tyson has had an exceptional rookie year. He is leading our team in catches, and he will play as our #1 during the Giants game. We want him to get as much game experience that he can going into the playoffs.

JAY CUTLER LEADS THE CHARGE

tumblr_muio8yCnQL1rge9rdo1_500.jpg

Jay Cutler will be leading the charge against the Giants. If you remember back in week 11 when the Browns played the Dolphins at home, Johnny Manziel had one of his worst games of his career and threw 5 INT. Cutler game in in the 4th quarter trailing 31-14. He started throwing strikes and went 7-8 184 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Browns ended up winning 35-31, and Cutler showed then and there that he still has it. Mike Pettine has all the faith in the world that Cutler will be able to lead this team to victory in week 17.

This week we will see action from a few of the youngsters that came out of the draft:
  • 1st round draft pick rookie LOLB Dakieston Harris in for Paul Kruger
  • 4th round draft pick in the 2016 draft ROLB Ikeem Bryant in for Barkevious Mingo
  • 6th round draft pick rookie LE David Bullock in for Ahtyba Rubin
  • 6th round draft pick in the 2015 draft C Luke Bowanko in for Malcolm Stone
  • 3rd round draft pick in the 2016 draft CB Chrishon Kilgore in for Joe Haden (playing #2)
  • 3rd round draft pick rookie CB Monte Sherman in for Justin Gilbert

PLAYERS IN CONSIDERATION

i

QB Johnny Manziel
24 Years Old 99 Overall
Height 6'0 Weight 210
Johnny is a must sign for the Browns. This kid is the face of the franchise. When people think Manziel, they think of the Browns. He has sold more jerseys in Browns history over the past 4 years, and he is only 24 years old. He led the Browns to a divisional appearance two years in a row. Sources say he the Browns asked him to take a team friendly deal, for the sake of the team, and keep this perennial playoff team together, and a deal has been offered. In case this doesn't work out, it's hard to say what route the Browns will go. Will they trade Johnny? Will they franchise tag him, and try again next year? Or will they try to roll with 2nd round pick in this year's draft, Orrin Daniel? Only time will tell.

i

LT Joe Thomas
32 Years Old 99 Overall
Height 6'6 Weight 312
No offer has been made to perennial Pro Bowler Joe Thomas yet. Even though he is getting up there in age, his game has not let down. Nobody in the organization have given any tells yet as to whether or not they are going to pursue Thomas or let him walk. I'm sure a few factors are going to decide this. One, They are waiting to see if Manziel resigns or not. Also, the Browns will check the 2018 draft for prospects who maybe could take the place of Thomas. Third, the Browns organization will see what Thomas is wanting salary wise, and what they are willing to pay him, and see if a deal can get done. Thomas' future does hang in the clasp here at Cleveland, only time will tell.
