Chargers: 2016 Preview

Starter
Draft is over, Chargers were looking to add some depth into their OL, but due to poor coaching they failed to get the right guys. We'll see how this develops over the season, but the Chargers desperately need depth at their OL positions. Instead they got more LBs and a CB.

Here's their top 3 picks:
(1) Dontrell Jordan 78 CB - Great Man, zone and Press coverage. Will be a great Nickel Back and may develop into starter. Chargers now have a solid young secondary on the outside. Eric Weddle will provide much needed leadership.

However, during the second game of preseason, Dontrell suffered a broken collarbone while making a routine tackle and will be out for 5 more weeks. Tough Loss for the young guy, but we know he'll bounce back.

(2) Tramon Moore 73 MLB - Chargers have four good MLBs. Tramon is a part of that corp and will add some depth to the field. Looks like he might develop well under Lyric's defensive coaching.
(3) Justin Harrison 70 ROLB - Adds depth to the OLB corp. Hopeful that he'll develop into a great LB and learn under some of the leadership from GT grad, Attaochu.

Now for your starting Chargers! CHARGE!

OL is anchored by King Dunlap. An improved group from last year by moving Hairston to start for the departed starter. Hairston looks to help in the run game which was in last place in 2015. We'll have to see how they are tested in the season in defending against the blitz and giving Rivers time to throw.

A lot of change in the WR and TEs. You know the great Antonio Gates retired. However, the Chargers picked up two good TES in Quarless and Johnson. Lyric has high praises for these guys and believes they can begin to fill some big shoes. Chargers also picked up a great FB from NE in James Develin - they are more committed than ever to improving the run. We'll see if it translates into yards on the field. WRs are still anchored by young superstar talent, Keenan Allen! Allen will have an improved role this year with the departure of Malcolm Floyd and new offensive coordinator that is more balanced and looks to get rid of the ball quicker.

Chargers are desperately looking for an impact player on the front line in the trenches. RE Liuget has the skills to get some sacks and they need him to get 4 - 6 sacks this year. A lot of changes were made at LE. As Chargers picked up stud Cameron Wake to help in the 4-3 front and Pitoitua to help in the 3-4 front. We expect the Chargers to flow between the two as the need arises to improve upon an already good defense.

Very good linebackers. This young group is developing well. We expect these guys to be household names in a few years!

Eric Weddle is the star in the secondary, but they added Tyvon Branch as SS to help shut down run game and the rookie, Tramon Moore will add great presence when he returns from his injury.

Chargers are going to the Playoffs this year and these guys are going to make it happen!

Go Chargers!
