2017 Mock Draft (Part One)

1. Oakland Raiders - dspbuckle

DE Myles Garrett, Texas A&M

The Raiders already have a Top 10 defense and the addition of Garrett along with Khalil Mack and Aldon Smith would make this unit one of the most feared in the league. There is an outside shot of the Raiders going for Leonard Fournette here but when you have a chance to have a dominant unit on one side of the ball and the best player available fits what you need, you take it.

2. San Francisco 49ers - Duv49ers
QB Deshaun Watson, Clemson

The 9ers need a QB in the worst way and Watson fits everything they could hope for. He has an NFL arm, a good pedigree playing at a top program and the mobility to excel in Chip Kelly's offense should the team retain him. Either way, San Francisco has the chance to grab their QB of the future and the best one on the board and they will take it.

3. Cincinnati Bengals - alexthagreat84
SS Jabril Peppers, Michigan

Honestly, the Bengals have a ton of holes. They need a DE and a CB so Peppers isn't a lock here. However, he is possibly the biggest play maker in the draft and a guy that could change their defense for years to come. They take Peppers and the rest of the AFC North cringes when they do.

4. Detroit Lions - TBD
DE Jonathan Allen, Alabama

As with most of the teams picking in the Top 10, there are a lot of holes on this team. They do not have an elite running game so the possibility of Fournette here makes some sense. However, most teams don't sell out for a back this early unless they feel they are one player away on offense. This team is not so they're going to take the player that makes the most sense and that's Allen. He'll pair with Ezekial Ansah to form one of the most feared pass rush tandems in the league.

5. Cleveland Browns - TBD
QB Deshone Kizer, Notre Dame

Its either quarterback or running back and the Browns passed on a QB last year. They won't repeat that mistake. They will take the last of the two sure thing QBs in this draft and be much better because of it. There's also the possibility of the Browns moving down here and grabbing one of the other QBs later in the round and picking up an extra pick or two in the process. They may have the possibility to draft a QB and HB by doing that so watch them closely as draft day approaches.

6. Buffalo Bills - pack1797
DT Malik McDowell, Michigan State

The BIlls really need offensive line help but Cam Robinson may be a reach here. They also want to switch to a 4-3 and with Dareus and Kyle Williams getting older, McDowell makes a ton of sense. However, don't be surprised if you see Buffalo move out of this pick and try to secure more picks so they can fill multiple holes later in the draft.

7. New Orleans Saints - TBD
CB Teez Tabor, Florida

If Watson or Kizer were available, I think they would easily take them as the heir apparent to Brees. They may even try to move back and take either Brad Kayaa or Chad Kelly later in the round. However, if they stay put, Tabor makes a lot of sense as the secondary is older and lacks play makers. Tabor could fill that void and help fix one of the bottom 10 defenses in the league.

8. New York Jets - kutsch47
OLB Tim Williams, Alabama

The Jets need help in the trenches so Robinson is a possibility here. However, the Jets have been a defensive oriented team for the last decade or so and Williams is the best player left on the board. He can be a stand up rusher in their 3-4 and edge rusher form Nickel sets. They could also use a cornerback so that is a possibility but none of the remaining CBs can make the impact that Williams can in season one.

9. Carolina Panthers - aarms32
CB Marlon Humphrey, Alabama

Carolina really only needs help at tackle and corner and they'll be happy to take the best CB on the board to replace Josh Norman. Some may feel that Alabama players are maxed out potential-wise when they arrive but Humphrey has room to grow and the Panthers desperately need to fill the void of Norman to return to an elite level.

10. Denver Broncos - Danperez
OT Cam Robinson, Alabama

Lots of teams will consider Robinson but Denver will be the first team to pull the trigger. They need offensive line help bad and Robinson is the best lineman in the draft. Don't be surprised to see this team target offensive line heavily in the offseason and look to make another run at the division title in Season 13.

11. Houston Texans - woodsmall12
CB Desmond King, Iowa

The Texans owner loves Hawkeyes and his eyes glow like a child on Christmas morning when the Hawkeyes' top player falls to him at #11. However, two CBs are taken ahead of King and either of them could easily wind up being the 2015 Jim Thorpe Award Winner. Either way, look for the Texans to take a CB here or move back in the draft and pick up extra picks to fix the holes that led them to a sub-.500 season.

12. Los Angeles Rams - blahblahyea7
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, USC

The local team takes the local kid who has everything that young QB Jared Goff needs. JuJu and Tavon Austin could form one of the top WR tandems in the league and take a huge load off of Todd Gurley to lead the offense.

13. Green Bay Packers - CJTHA1
ILB Raekwon McMillan, Ohio State

When you need an inside linebacker and have the opportunity to take one named after a member of the Wu-Tang Clan, you take him. McMillan is clearly the top ILB in the draft and can pair with Clay Matthews and Nick Perry to wreak havoc on NFC North QBs and running backs.

14. Dallas Cowboys - NightHawkTH32
SS Jamal Adams, LSU

This is very likely a spot that could see some movement on draft day. The Cowboys don't have a ton of holes and, while Adams could help out the defense quite a bit, he's not a necessity. With the running back desperate Dolphins picking behind them, look for this pick garner quite a bit of interest as teams look to move up to grab one of the top running backs or the last of the two first round quality quarterbacks.

15. Miami Dolphins - Tigers20
HB Leonard Fournette, LSU

While it would be a nice fairy tale ending to a less than desirable season, its highly unlikely Fournette lasts this long. The teams in front of Miami all have bigger needs. However, many of the teams behind them need a running back and Fournette is the best talent available. Look for Miami to move up to try and secure Fournette earlier and look for several other teams to try and leap ahead of Miami to try and get the talented back for themselves.

16. Indianapolis Colts - TBD
HB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford

This is kind of a no-brainer with Frank Gore approaching retirement. McCaffrey has the skills to remind fans in Indy of Marshall Faulk and Edgerrin James. The versatile back would give Andrew Luck a new option that could be used in multiple positions. McCaffrey may not last this long but this is as about as good of a situation either the team or the player could hope for.
