Cleveland Browns 2015
Record: 9-7
Div. Record: 4-2

Hello Again #BrownsNation! The time has come to see how your team fared in the 2015 season! The Browns came in with everyone expecting them to not do a whole lot this year. I think we at least made some people look this way! We did finish 3rd in the AFC North behind the Ravens and Bengals, but ended up having a winning season! Browns started the season with a 2-5 record, then went 5-2 through week 8 and 17! Final record was 9-7, with a 4-2 divisional record. Both divisional losses came against the Ravens, while we swept the Bengals and Steelers. While it's not where we like to finish, we still ended with a winning record, and will look to build on that!!

2015 Offense

Here is how your Browns offense fared this year:

  • Total Offensive Yards: 4,902 (21st)
  • Pass Yards: 3,224 (22nd)
  • Rush Yards: 1,699 (8th)
  • Points Per Game: 25.3 (10th)
The Browns struggled a bit offensively. Money Manziel is still coming into his own, and we all expect him to come out guns blazing in season 2 and have a much better year! Both Josh Gordon and Andrew Hawkins were reliable targets for Manziel this year, as they both were #1 and #2 in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. TE Gary Barnidge was a huge part of the offense this year, and the Browns gave him a 4 year contract extension totaling $6.1M. Gordon received a contract extension of 4 years $26M this year, and Hawkins still has 2 years left on his current contract, as does Johnny, so expect to see more of the chemistry in the next couple of seasons! Let's take a look at the Browns 2015 offensive highlights!

Johnny Manziel

Johnny Manziel. The player only people in Cleveland can love. He has been deemed the leader of this team and is the face of the franchise. While he did throw for 21 interceptions, he showed signs of absolute brilliance. In week 14 vs the 49ers he went 16/17 207 Yards 3 TD 0 INT and ha d a perfect 156.9 QBR, then in week 17 against Pitt he had a 146.2 QBR going 13/20 242 Yards 3 TD and 0 INT. He definitely showed late in the season that he is capable of leading this team, and everyone expects him to emerge in season 2. Let's take a look at some of Johnny's best moments in 2015:
QB Johnny Manziel
94.1 QBR 247/380 65% 3,518 Yards 28 TD 23 INT
43 Rush Attempts 200 Yards 3 TD

2015 Defense
Let's see how the Defense ranked this year:
  • Total Yards Allowed: 4,899 (8th)
  • Pass Yards Allowed: 3,609 (15th)
  • Rush Yards Allowed: 1290 (9th)
  • Points Allowed: 321 (9th)
  • QB Sacks 19: (32nd)
  • Interceptions: 23 (T11th)
The lifeblood of this team outside of Johnny is definitely the defense. Defense was rated to be one of the top in the league this year, but only performed mediocre. Halfway through the season rookie K'Waun Williams got promoted to #2 while veteran Tramon Williams slipped to #3. The Browns made a trade with the Vikings this year as they sent CB Pierre Desir to Minnesota for FS Antoine Exum Jr. Browns have been trying to get better coverage from the S position, and Exum is rated as one of the best young coverage safeties in the league. Young LB Christian Kirksey also did not see the field as much as we would have wished, but that will change in S2. Dansby is still the leader of this defense as he had a monster year. Defense will be key for the Browns in the draft as they look to build it up. They have to get more pressure on the QB as the Browns finished dead last in QB Sacks this year. It was an off season for RE John Hughes, but everyone knows he is still a monster coming off the end, and he did just enough to gain a 5 year contract extension worth $20.7M Let's take a look at what good did come out of the defense this season:

Another side note to mention is after K Travis Coons missed the game winning FG vs the Ravens in week 12, he was cut. His stats up to that point were 10/13 76%. Owner Chris Bigtex has always been high on special teams. He has a history of firing kickers that don't do the job, and Coons was not getting it done. He brought in FA Garrett Hartley, and Hartley went 5/5 FG and made all 16 XP.

Special teams in the NFL is huge. You live and die off of special teams. Unfortunately, Coons was not getting the job done, so he no longer has a job. We worked out and brought in Hartley and he has been perfect. He has gained our trust to remain our kicker for next year.

Draft Status
  • Round 1 Pick 19
  • Round 2 Pick 51
  • Round 3 Pick 83
  • Round 4 Pick 115
  • Round 5 Pick 147
  • Round 6 Pick 179
  • Round 7 Pick 211
The Browns get the 19th pick in each round. Key positions they will be looking at are CB,SS,QB,HB,DE. Don't be surprised if the Browns try to make a move for another pick or 2. Alot of teams seem to be interested in young lockdown CB Justin Gilbert, but it's going to take a deal that will make both sides happy.

Time to gear up for Season 2 #BrownsNation!!! It's going to be a good one!! Let's hear your support! Is this going to be the Browns year?!?!
