"2-0 is where we want to be men, now lets go get number 3" said coach Hedrick following today's impressive road victory over the Lions. In the midst of major organizational changes, this 2-0 start is impressive for several reasons.
They've went on the road in back to back weeks and are soley responsible for handing out the only 2 losses suffered by the entire division. New ownership acknowledges the importance of two quick divisional road wins but hopes the team remains humble and hungry. "It's great, as long as we all are aware that it don't mean s%@t right now. We'll have a better idea of where we stand after next week." Mr. Cheese said. The Packers will search for their third straight victory against the NFC North when the consecutively reigning division champ Vikings, who are also 2-0, sail into Lambeau.
The most surprising aspect of the 2-0 start is Aaron Rodgers. Years ago I remember thinking that there is nothing that A-Rod could do on a football field that would ever surprise me. After witnessing so many unbelievable acts of magic I concluded I couldn't be surprised because I believed anything was possible. I stand corrected. Surprised doesn't even do it justice. In the season preview I stated how their success would require more of McCaffery's legs and less of Rodgers' arm. I anticipated a more balanced approach but I never would've thought we'd see these numbers from Rodgers: 57 comp%; 1 pass TD (1 rush); 6 INT, & QB Rating of 44.8!!
With an expiring contract and sub-par performances, could this be the final season for no. 12 in GB?
I will reiterate familiar terms to the cheeseheads out there, R-E-L-A-X.... I'm not buying into the idea Rodgers turning 35 and suddenly became the old man from the tv show. 35 is no spring chicken, but it no longer means QB graveyard. Rodgers might have lost a bit of zip on his fastball, but I'd still take his arm over most. I believe his head is the problem leading to these Ja'Marcus Russell numbers. He played in the same system his entire career until this year. He's had to re program almost 15 years of football DNA. With practices limited more than ever and veterans lacking at the skill positions it will take time to get on the right track. Just hope it happens before they run the new L&S ragged.
