New York Times Season Preview

All-Star
The New York Jets surprised even their fans this last season, as they turned in the best afc record overall and 3rd best in the league at 13-3. Tony Romo, despite a hot start died out over the stretch into average and in the end was stifled in the afc divisional game, being held without an offensive touchdown. After that, Romo retired along with franchise star Darrelle Revis, leaving the team with some gaps.

The offense sees the most changes this year, as this team scored well but couldn't drive the ball down the field. They benefitted from the leagues best turnover producing defense setting them up in favorable field position. Last season we saw Seth Russell or of Baylor come through down the stretch during Romo's injury and play extremely well. After a disappointing rookie season from Saquon Barkley, we saw his fellow rookie LJ Scott carry the ball better and get more touches as the power back in the long run. The two are slated as a double headed monster this year, getting nearly equal snaps all training camp. Receiving got interesting as of a few hours ago. One of our sources indicated Brandon Marshall was cut, and rookie sensation during camp and the preseason, Jerel Vittatoe, will become the outside receiver next to newcomer Noah Brown, with Curtis Samuel resuming his job as slot man. This offense has gotten more explosive and hopes to see a jump in production this year.
The defense hasn't seen a lot of action this offseason. To replace Darrelle Revis the team brought in Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie who will add speed to the outside position. After study under multiple veterans the last two seasons including Revis, Sean Smith, and Aqib Talib, TreDavious White out of LSU is ready to take the other outside corner spot. Besides the breakout of 5th round receiver Vittatoe, no one expected slot corner to go to another LSU product, former safety Jalen Mills. Playing great on both the inside and outside, the defensive coordinator was very happy to see him win the position.

This team is poised to make another run, and hopefully they will be able to get past the first game they play in the playoffs.
